i cant quit mine.... but i want to modernize them, any experiences with C-tapers or steelfibers?

I would use the KBS Tour shaft in whatever flex you use, I did that with mine and it made a huge difference. I had KT's as the stock shafts, but they were getting old and I don't like anything new on the market besides Ping and I'm not spending $900 dollars, so the shafts were the answer for me. Enjoy

What did you notice going from the KT to the KBS Tour?

I noticed that the club was a smidge heavier in swing weight but not much. Shots were a bit lower and more penetrating which is what I was looking for as well. I did go an extra .5 longer which probably made the biggest difference with the weight even though both shafts weighed about a gram of each other. Overall I'm pleased with the change, it did add some distance that I felt I was lacking, about .5 club. They both are great shafts but the KT's that were origional were worn out and Ping couldn't put that shaft in them anymore. They offered the z-z65 CFS and KBS and the tech that I spoke to said that he thought the KBS combo in that head was a winner but he did tell me to upgrade. lol

Interesting that the Ping tech recommended the KBS Tours. I've been debating whether to try the Tour or the Tour V, but if a Ping tech recommended to the Tour that seems like the better way to go.

Out of curiosity, how much did Ping charge for the shaft changes?
[/quote]

Yes, I was surprised too and let me correct myself as it was the Tour-V being lighter like the KT. Sorry for the confusion. Ping charged $33/ club. Probably could've got them cheaper had I had a local or DIY but I wanted Ping to do it as I didn't want and issues. I like them.

Wait I'm confused. So did you get the Tour V or the Tour?

I've played a set of Becu's for the majority of my rounds since about 06, including while playing for my highschool. I had them reshafted with soft stepped x100's and regrooved 2 seasons ago. Almost as good as most irons out there if you can handle hitting 7 when your buddies are hitting 9's . I recently gave in and got some srixon z545's which I think will replace the Eye 2's. But I will always hold on to them because they are so much fun to bring out on random rounds.

How much trouble would it b to change to graphite shaft in a set of these? Mine have the ZZ Lites but I can also get a set very cheap in great shape to tinker with. Thanks in advance.

No more trouble than reshafting any other club.

Two things come to mind...

Ping tends to have light swingweights, which also means somewhat lighter clubheads. Could deal with swingweight issues, depending on the graphite in question, and the length you're looking to go with.

Secondly, pulling the clubs may or may not be more difficult; Ping is nearly legendary for using an epoxy that's tougher to break down than what you might find elsewhere.

Other than that, full speed ahead.

I bought a set of Ping Zing 2's over the winter, regripped them and have three rounds in so far this season. Coming from i15's, the offset is quite exaggerated.
For those playing the Zing or Zing 2's, how did you change your stance/setup/swing to accommodate the increased offset?

I pulled a factory Ping graphite shaft from a 7 + and as with many other shafts and clubs about a half to and inch of the shaft was damaged pulling it out.

IMO just leave the graphite in - maybe they would be decent shafts in these irons?

I used eye 2s for years from a junior and why I sold them God only knows. They are the best club ever made and today I decided to go back to them and picked up a full set (3-sw) for....wait for it...£40!! That's $59.9, I mean my God what a bargain and with newish ping grips too. I've used all sorts over the last 10-15 years but none compare to the eye 2s........so thank you gumtree you beauty!

Well I finally bit the bullet and got rid of mine after after 21yrs of use. Sad to see them go but I got tired of struggling with the issues I faced playing tournament golf. They were like good friends and will be missed.

I broke down and got a set of i25's fitted and now I'm working these into my game. I like them and have some issues with them but when I play in tournaments I don't have to worry about the scrutiny. I also enjoy the added distance as well.

I thought long and hard on keeping them but I'm not the kind of guy that can have a couple of sets of clubs because they were so comfortable if I played a bad round of what I was using they ended up being like a bad girlfriend and I'd go back to them. Lol. Again, they will be missed and I'm confident in Ping that they will continue to make great irons to play into the future.

Happy gaming and hit them straight.

Been a Ping guy for a long time. Switch back and forth but always seem to come back. I have G5's through the bag to start the year but used to have a set of Eye 2's with the o.g. grooves that are finding their way back to my house but not my bag.

My dad has been playing them for a while and they are now going in my son's bag ... so that makes three generatons of golfers with the same set of clubs. He will get a chance to hit them next week (hoping he hits them well!) and they should find aplace in his bag this season.
