Got a set of Eye2+ 4-W originally with KT and reshafted with KBS Tour stiff.

I hit them fairly similar to my other irons, no ballooning with KBS Tour unlike ZZLite which I dislike. KBS is very solid. No trouble with the swing weight... Bang on at D0.

KBS Tour seems to be the consensus on lowering ball flight. I hit them on a sim on another club and didn't really love them, but I don't pay that much attention to sims. Problem is I'd end up spending more than twice what I spent on the irons to reshaft them :)

Trudat!
These days, cost arm and leg to buy new shafts to reshaft youself worse if you have to pay someone to do it for you.
Clubs are everywhere to be had with the shaft you want.
But then, these are Eye2s and worth some special face-lift IMHO.

Yeah just get a set of pulls and install them yourself. I did my s400s myself. It cost me like 50 bucks total for pulls and epoxy. Much cheaper than having someone do it. It was a fun little project.

For those who have moved on, what have you gone to? I play SS 2-SW, and have tried what seems like everything from SGI to blade like S55s, AP2s,Mizzos, etc. The set is my late fathers and has sentimental value and will never leave the family. I've demoed numerous "new" sets but nothing seems warranting of a new purchase. I love the i25s but other than stronger lofts, nothing seems to be that much better. Obviously others feel the same way or this thread wouldn't exist, but for those who have switched, to what? And Why?

I was declined a second adjustment on an Eye2+ SW at PING HQ which was disappointing. I could care less if club broke. If manufactured within 15yrs, there shouldn't be any issue.

I adjusted my Eye 2+ SW from 53* to 52* at Ping in Ontario for no fee. Eye 2s can only bump 1 or 2 color codes depending if they have been bumped before.
i use eye 2 s is it possible to bend them more upright as the set was given to me by a shorter golfer.

Are you sure you need the lie changed and not just lengthened? Maybe you may need both? Ping does free fit...get it done, adjust once

Great thread, I'm currently in the market for a set of Eye2's that I want to have Ping refurbish and dial in to my specs, I then plan on installing DGTIX100's soft stepped just like my gamers and do some trackman testing. A few questions:

From what I can tell from the USGA site, the original Eye2's are legal until 2014 but the plus's are not, true? I really like the plus head shape better.

How do the headweights compare to modern irons?

Does anyone have a set of green or white dot with good grooves they want to sell me?

Thanks!

Believe me I've looked everywhere and cannot find them. If I had to guess I'd say none on the 3,4 and minimal on the 5,6 & 7 and a little more progressively to the pw. Just wondered if there was someone on here that might have a spec sheet or something like that.

Re the bending questions asked above: I have adjusted Eye2+ irons that were more than 15 years old, and got 2 or 3 degrees out of them. On the spare one I tried out first, I bent it one way then back the other way. Like 2* up then 2* flat, then back to zero. It might have been risky, and it took quite a bit of force, but I didn't break them. If you are willing to risk it and can find an experienced club mechanic, it can be done. 2* should not be a big deal IMO. There must be some risk, or else Ping wouldn't be refusing to do it. But they can be done. Maybe using a bending par with a strong push is safer than Ping's method. I don't really know.

I had a set bent 2 degrees once no problem. It takes more force but they bend nicely. I3's on the other hand don't like to move.

Sorry, I should clarify. I have the regular eye 2 not the plus. I know the lofts are a little different so I figured the bounce would be as well.

Just wondering if anyone games Ping Eye 2's.

Or, do they just not compare, performance wise, to today's clubs? (I know the lofts are different, no comments needed there).

I know the technology is not the same, blah, blah, blah,.... but the bottom line question is: Do they perform as well as today's clubs?
Sometimes I game the ping eye 2 xg wedges with the conforming grooves. They come in a 56* SW and a 60* LW and are wonderful out of the sand but they go way to high on full shots.

 • 3 weeks later...

Had a set growing up of orange dots that got stolen. Loved those clubs, and played a ton of rounds with them. Moved on to other things, and never considered another set.

A couple years ago, I was able to pick up a set of Eye 2+ 3-W in BeCu on the BST forum here that are unhit, with several of the clubs still having the stickers on the grips saying that heads will discolor. Those are in my living room in an antique bag.

So the other day I was in Golf HQ, and they had a set of Eye 2's on the rack 3-SW for $100. Most of them had S300 shafts, with a couple of them with the original ping shafts (bands are so worn, you cant tell which model). Picked them up and put them in the bag for this weekend. Considering it was my first round in 6 months, I haven't hit irons this pure in years. These things were effortless. Probably my best GIR round I have had in ages. These will be staying in the bag for a while, with a couple of them getting S300 shafts to match the set.

Now, I am really wanting to take that 'new' set of BeCu's out and see what they feel like. Must. Resist. Temptation.

I have had a set of + no + in the bag with TT Black Gold for three years now. I think these are especially rare (even for the + no +) because they have the wraparound serial #, which usually indicates that they were made for an overseas market. I sent them off to Ron at LL golf for a refurb before I bagged them. He did a tremendous job.

I've considered reshafting them or buying some BeCu's and sending them to Ron for the treatment.

The holy grail for me are a set of BeCu + no +. I've heard rumors on here that there were a few isolated sets of these made for some of the Solheim family members, but you could probably look most of your life for them and never come across a set. Maybe just apocryphal.
