Does anyone still game Ping Eye 2's?

So who really has these still in the bag??

On something of a lark, I put my Eye2+ in my bag this past Friday. Hit them fairly well, wound up with a score roughly equal to my index, playing in the rain. Played with them this afternoon, also, and shot a score about a shot higher than my index, in spite of sporadic short game.

I'm hitting them fairly well, but to be honest, I was hitting my Mizuno MS-11s and Ram Tour Grinds about as well in preceding couple weeks. Still, they've been quite serviceable this weekend, and the positive is I don't have to worry about club damage nearly as much. Pings are so durable they have a half life. :)

I'll keep them in the bag for now, see what happens. :)

A last note... i'm not hitting these nearly as high as I did in the past. A couple things I'm doing in the swing has brought down my iron trajectory a fair amount. There were times in the past I worried about bringing down a satellite with a 9 iron. ;)

I had Eye2 and Eye2+ and like a fool sold them, now I'm bout to find another set. They're what got me playing some of MY best golf!! Really like the ZZ Lite shaft, just on the fence on whether the Eye2 or the + model! Thanks for your reply!

I do. I have some i20's that I have been trying around with, but the Eye 2's are staying in. I think I just need to make it easier on myself and sell whatever second set I have

I've got a set of XRs, Cobra Pro CB, FG17s, W/S Tour Blade, & 588 Altitudes that make the game easier lol, which they do but I'm not sure bout them yet, they bring the rain for sure! The Cobras I play very well as I do the 17s with but I miss my Pings!!

The ZZLites are really the icing on the cake for me. They really are one of the greatest steel shafts ever made.

I STILL AM!

manalive... i was looking for these, off and on, for 20 years. first played them as a high schooler, and now I'm gaming these bad girls twice a week. these new reds came with the ZZlites still on and they still play the same, but I regripped the diamonds...

there are probably more clubs that have better 'feel' but when you absolutely stroke the Eye2 perfectly, there is no 'feel' at all. and i'm not like some others that hit the longer ones easier. i dropped the 3 & 4i for a wilson hybrid, but the 6i is still the club i have the most confidence in...

i tried the ISI-K reds for several years, and simply could not get my hands -- or my brain -- around the finish with those clubs. as soon as i found these Eye2 reds, i just went flush and have been giddy ever since.

never giving these up.

I bought a nice set of what i thought were black dot eye2 becus on ebay a few months ago. I called ping and gave them the serial number, turns out they started as red dot. I need to get the lofts and lies checked, hopefully they were bent and then repainted as opposed to just repainted. Still nice clubs though, they look like they have less wear than my G25s.

I have a red or two in my black dot set and they feel pretty much the same as the black lies. Those colors play the same to me at least.

I have moved on. Played Eye 2 from age of 16 to 30ish. Should have kept my original set. Last 4 years I have tried a lot of sets including 2 more short stints with eye 2s. Currently gaming ZINGS, always wanted to try them. Had a good friend in college that loved his ZINGS. He has a very good golfer. I almost bought a set of Eye 2s when I bought the ZINGS but I just was hitting the ZINGS a lot better.

I've told this story in a couple threads, so apologies if anyone is reading a repeat....

A few weeks ago, I was going to play a rain round. I have been playing Ram Tour Grinds, but for the weather, on a lark I dug out my Eye2+. Managed to shoot a decent score with them. Kept them in the bag the rest of the weekend, two more rounds, and played fairly well with them.

Now, I shot essentially the same scores I'd been shooting with my Rams, but having recently seen Bull Durham again, I thought I should follow the advice of Crash Davis and Respect the Streak. I was playing well with the Pings, let's keep them around, eh?

And it's continued. One round, I was on a pace to shoot a new personal best before doubles on the last two holes; who would have thought hitting the ball into a pine tree was not conducive to low scoring? The next day, I bettered that score by two shots, finishing only two short of my personal best. The next weekend, one bad round that had a couple instances of hoselus lateralus, followed by another decent effort. I've lowered my index by 2 full shots in three weeks.

As such, I've continued to follow the Crash Davis advice and Respect The Streak; Eye2+ are still in the bag.

Curious where this takes me....

Nice set Boggyman.. Congrats.

You may want to check to see if blue dots are the correct lie for you. Black dots are "standard, FWIW, though your mileage may vary :) If not, they can be adjusted by a qualified pro-shop or sent back to Ping. I think Ping will adjust it for free?

Blue dot works great firms, played them in the past. Can play black as well!

Ping Eyes are great classics, played them a while back, but I wonder since the new pings on the market look so much like the old ping eye 2's that current technology hasn't passed them up.

I consider my i15's to be a next gen Eye 2.

I got a good deal on the copper heads a few years ago so gave them a try...huge switch from my Miura blades. But anyway I was surprised how low the ball flight was....I was thinking with the offset and large sole theyd launch it high. The original shafts were very bad IMO and may have been the problem. But give the cost of replacing them with my preferred PX, it wasn't worth it, and I sold the clubs.
