New Titleist golf ball being tested on Tour

Recommended Posts

Received a sleeve of a test ball from Acushnet Golf, can not say if it is the same ball as described above. Plain white sleeve, no printing. My reaction 5 yards longer than current premium ball (Pro V1, Z-Star, etc.), excellent control around green but less durable, scuffed with normal play. Waiting for the E-mail to submit my evaluation. Tested with Modern clubs where I carry a 9 handicap

my guess is it will be longer off the driver yet have more spin with the short irons :-) Isn't that what every ball company says? I would love to see ball test done with driver, long irons, mid irons, and short irons at swing speeds of 90mph, 100mph, 110mph, and 120mph

Golf digest does something just like that every year.

GolfDigest does exactly that each year.

Any chance we'll see a yellow ProV1?

Wow! Just wow.

This was a joke right?

Still have one Pro V Test ball left.....the others lasted about 3 rounds each.

Did you lose them? (not trying to be funny, just curious as to whether you were referring to the durability of the ball or not).

There is a BIG change in the soon to be released ProV1 and the ProV1x. In keeping with the green philosophy all synthetic material in the ball are organically grown.

This new way of growing golf balls has proven that they will go further and can the flighted by the new technology VC (voice command). The new technology, VC, lets you actually control the ball while it is in flight.

I would love to see a ProV1s. S being for soft. Not more spin just soft. To go against the Chrome Soft. After playing the softer balls the ProV1's feel hard to me. Not overly so but very noticeable

All Titleist bag for last five seasons but dumped the Pro V1x for B330 two years ago. B330 is cheaper, softer, almost as low spin off the tee and much more spin around the green.

Edit: oh, and with the B330 you can play the same ball til the dimples wear off.

I have played the Titleist ProV1x golf ball since it was first released. I've tried at one point or another virtually every other premium ball on the market, and the best all around ball for me is the Titleist ProV1x. I know exactly how it will perform, feel, and react on shots, and that is very important.

I don't have any major issues with durability, spin, flight, distance, etc. compared to any other ball. Frankly, I'll probably lose a ball before I can't use it, and if it gets a little scratched up, I simply put it in my shag bag for practicing around greens.

If PGA Tour players weren't paid to play the other golf balls, 99% of players would play the Titleist golf ball. As it is, the vast majority of players play the Titleist ProV1 balls. Having worked at the range of pro events, you can count on your hands how many players don't play Titleist.
Ditto, irrespective of the possibility of whether or not players are paid to play the pro-v, the presence is so overwhelming that the name and familiarity is ingrained within amateurs, aspiring amateurs and tour pros alike. The # 1 ball being played at most if not all amateur events is a clear indicator of this reality and not just a perception.

With all these releases of the Pro V1 line it's beginning to look like Titleist is becoming the TM of golf balls.

I have chose not to keep up with all the different models of the line; would someone with more knowledge educate us on all of those releases, the playing characteristics of each model, and how the model was received by the golfing public and the PGA Players? Large request, I know, but would be very informative.

Great idea. Hopefully this is the way Golf Ball data will be displayed in the future.. Data like this would help golfers big time.
Slight correction. It would help a small percentage.
