Has anyone tried this club with a steel shaft? I love it, I just would feel more comfortable with a heavier shaft. I was thinking either pxi, steelfiber i95, or DG SL. This club is so good though, just might go with the stock shaft.
I have a KBS steel hybrid shaft on the way. I hit the white tie fine, but I don't like the feel.
I hit it today with the KBS. IMO, the KBS is much smoother and feels better. I hit it the same distance as with the White Tie.
Interesting... I think the White Tie is as smooth as it gets... much smoother than any steel shaft I've ever hit.

honeymoon is over for me on this! Back to my rescue....

Can't seem to hit it consistantly off the deck or rough - great off the tee though

Where can I find shaft options? I am looking for something in the 105-110 gram range. I ordered the 18*, but the store wasn't aware of other options so I just ordered White Tie in X flex. It felt great but a little light to me. I was swinging it about 5 mph faster than 712u. The height of the launch is incredible. I saw the D+ was another option after reading this thread, but that is lighter. Any suggestions? Was thinking of putting a steelfiber 110 in it afterwards if I find it too light after I spend more time with it. It was more consistent then the 712u or MP-H4 and I didn't have nearly as many misses left with the DHY as I did with the others. I was getting ten yards more carry with a significantly higher trajectory. I am really looking forward to this club, just a little worried about the weight of the shaft.

I haven't tried the DHy with any other shafts, only the White Tie in X, so I can't comment on that. What I did do that might be an option for you is get a heavier weight screw to add a little weight and bump up the swing weight. I think the stock weight is around 7g and I put in a 14g one. That would change the swing weight in a similar fashion to putting in a 110g shaft to replace the White Tie. I don't know what shaft you were testing in the 712U, but if it was a heavier steel shaft, the lighter DHy shaft could be part of the reason for the faster swing speed you saw.

On a separate note to support what a lot of other people on this thread are saying, I'm playing the 21* DHy and love it. I didn't really have a problem getting long irons up in the air (I played a 2-iron for awhile there), but a few swings with this thing and the 3 iron came right out of the bag. Misses with the the DHy are so much better than misses with an iron, including feel, ball flight, and distance. It's easy to tell where you hit it on the face, but other than the very top of the face it always has a nice, solid feel with the biggest difference on thin shots. The gray top line and black back really makes it look more like an iron at address which gives me more confidence that I can go flag hunting rather than looking at a big hybrid that makes me feel like I'm just trying to get it on the green. The normal trajectory is similar to my 4 iron now but obviously much less spin which I have found fights through the wind better than my 3 iron, especially on mishits. It also shines on trouble shots, like low punches out of the trees, that you need to cut or turn over quickly, shots that you would hit with a 3 iron but never imagine doing with a full hybrid. Based on my comments it probably seems like I never hit it on the center and I'm always in the trees, haha. The thing is that a good swing on my 3 iron and a good swing on the DHy will have the pretty much the same result. However, golf is around how good your bad shots are, not the good ones, and the DHy's bad shots are a lot better without really losing any benefits of my "players cavity" 3 iron (Adams a-Tour black X100), save the iron's pretty look at address and in the bag. It is a great transition club between my 4 iron and 19* Super Hybrid XTD bomber, exactly what Adams was trying to do with this club. You owe it to yourself to try out one of these, even if you think you don't have much trouble with your long irons.

Received my 21* with stiff white tie today. Took it to the range and it is everything I hoped for. Flying old range balls just past the 218 sign. Easy swings produced baby draws that seemed to fly forever. When I went after it I hit bullets that drew a bit more. I caught a few too high on the face and they resulted in more of a pop up but they still carried 205ish and on line. I did hit a slump after hitting about 15 straight but that was complete user error. This thing is definitely thick and made my Idea Pro Gold irons look like butter knives when I picked them back up. I now have a bit of a gapping dilemma.
I'm guessing that with rollout and decent balls I'll be getting a total of 225 out of the DHy. I don't hit my 19* 909h any further than that. I'm thinking about either picking up an 18* DHy or a 19* Super LS to fill the gap between here and my 15* 906f2 that I hit 250-265. Any thoughts?

how does the finish hold up on the heads without headcovers? I hate the head cover! Was going to ditch this club but might give it another go this weekend. I do hate the head cover and find it unnecessary but don't want the finish all scratched and chipped

Ah, that was going to be one of the all time shockers. The one you kept is the 24*, right? I'm really liking my 18*, and I think I prefer the Kuro Kage to the White Tie in terms of feel. I don't have a lot of on course testing with it so far, but the limited times that I have hit it have left me impressed. Though I need to stop trying to dig it out of bad lies in the rough (or get myself to go at it more steeply), because that hasn't gone too well the couple of times I've tried it so far.

Ok, broke down and bought the 21 this week based on all the feedback. Always loved playing a 3 iron off the tee and felt they didn't get as wild on me than hybrids. Excited to test drive it over the next few weeks!

Good to hear. I love everything about this club but the headcover. It doesn't want to stay on the damn club. I have a push cart too and I am not too worried about the back of the club getting nicked.

It worked very well for me with 21 deg for long par 3 and par 5s. I don't really hit my hybrids so straight which DHy did so well for me.

Although to be honest I have not been playing it much lately... Even when I've found time to play. I still love my Anser 4 iron and actually thinking about playing both Anser 17 and i20 20 in the same setup....

I love DHy 21 deg to fill perfectly between 16.25 913H and 5 iron. I'm so tempted to buy 18 but I noticed that 21 DHy a bit shorter than 913H 21 deg. Not sure if I should grab 18 to create too much gap between 21 deg and 13 deg 3 Deep which it's my primary club as "driver".
