unless you've got substantial information and pic's what's the point of posting, i could say i played a round of golf with Justin Rose yesterday and he was using the new TM iron's ( i didn't but you know where i'm going with it), It really does my head in on this site with these worthless post's, what's the point of them, there's a 20+ page thread on the TMAG TP line revival and the irons are discussed no end in that thread, with (you) the OP even posting in there, so unless you've been to the moon for the last 3 month's do some reading before posting just to get your post count up.

I also heard the words TP driving iron and March today. I also heard that Christmas will come in January for non-American markets.

And, of course, there will be caps and bags and all that stuff with TP logos.

By the time I'm starting to look at new clubs for next season TMAG will leave me with a choice on my hands. I played the original R11, and I quite liked it. I've always been a fan of TM, but have barely played any of their gear for some reason. Short stints with fairways and drivers, but nothing serious. The SLDR REALLY has my attention for next year, and I'm 99% sure it will be the next driver I'm playing. However, if the SLDR 430cc is really coming, it will be a hot contender to the 460 currently out. Also the SLDR fairways will be most likely finding a spot in my bag. I'll also be very interested to hear the shaft offerings for the TP irons. Currently, I'm leaning towards Callaway Apex Pro or Cally Apex's(I think), simply for the high end shaft offerings as stock. I wonder if TM will go the way of Adams, and offer C-Taper or the like as stock, or charge for the upgrades. If the new TP irons come with high end shafts, those will be strong competitors to the Cally line I'm sure.

Has anybody ever looked at the vintage section of they TM Japan website? Every US cast club from R7, TP, R9 had a sweet looking forged version. Can someone explain why these were never offered in N.America or why nobody goes crazy over them...but still talk about RAC days. Thanks

I have a partial explanation as it was told to me. In the Asian market, cast is considered cheap and isn't played by many. The people are more than willing to pay the more expensive forged prices.

The US market is seen as being the reverse. The majority of players aren't willing to spend the higher (now roughly ($1000 a set when new) price to play forged when cast irons are usually $300-400 dollars cheaper.

Could be wrong, but I've been told this exact thing by more than one company.

Very easy to understand that mind set. You have a country who has a number of skilled craftsmen when it comes to forging. A strong pride factor. Add in the fact that for years, the majority of "cheap pot metal castings" for lamp parts etc also came out of Japan (why if you would have asked someone 30 years ago in the US about Japanese made products they would say it was all junk)

Without getting into big debate, you can see how the forging is such a big selling point though, as they have to have things forged that really don't matter. Driver faces for example. Yes they can be forged or cast, or even cut from rolled steel and milled. But these have to be heat treated after forming to assure the "spring steel" characteristics-- if driver faces were as soft as some irons, how many balls would we really hit before the face looked like a steel drum? But to the JDM, the word "forged" on there is everything
