Callaway is turning into Taylormade with 2 new drivers every 6 months...
True, but it can work both ways. These things are bound to be good, so just wait 4-5 months and you'll be picking one up for almost half price just like the RFE. Spend the difference on what people will be paying at launch, with a matching fairway wood. No brainer for the Golf and financially savvy.
From what i've been hearing, these will never be discounted by Callaway.
I'll take the under on NEVER being discounted.

I'm confused. Is the Alpha the "better players" club and the BB the GI driver, or (I suspect) two separate clubs each with different, varying degrees of tech, but both with 460 cc heads. In a way its kind of wierd, because if I were going to buy one, I can't buy both. That said, they look cool.

Am I the only one who thinks the headcover is awful
No, they look cheap to me. Nice throwback fur cover would have been perfect.
Throwback on the fur headcover would've been solid, IMO. I don't care for the shiny plastic they have on there. But I don't normally use stock headcovers so it's not like it's a deal breaker for me among others.

Oh yeah and Deck, spot-on about the Iron Patriot reference, well played. My first thought was Captain America (especially his shield, I mean...c'mon that's a ringer, right?)
Needed the obscure not the first thought. Had Optimus prime and capt'n America first glance.

Now will the fact that Osborne takes it over change it? Nope. Not for me. Love the bad guys!

TRANSFORMERS.....MORE THAN MEETS THE EYE!

Its so funny to me, and I mean this like funny haha not funny douchebag, that people love the look of this, but hate Taylormade and Nike's stuff. Brand loyalty is such a huge determining factor. I don't have one brand I love, so I try to stay fairly objective, and IMHO these are FUGLY.

Putting something in or taking something out of the golf club? I'll pass on that. Hope the screw cap is correctly engineered. I'd hate to see it falling out like Adams had with their XTD fw line a while back. There will be gravity cores all over the place!

Just my 2cents. I'll be anxious to hear how everyone likes them when they come out.

Cheers.

Haha so true. The people using the word NEVER so strongly aren't thinking about 3 years down the road when there have been 5 new generations of drivers since the BB alpha. I HIGHLY doubt in 2017 this thing is still gonna be going for 500, but that's what the people saying "never" seem to think...

You mean like the shaft in about every single adjustable club out there? Or the movable weights in either an R1, RFX, etc? There's movable parts in just about every single club out there.

Regarding the comparison to the XTD line; that was a glue issue, not a screw issue. Same thing with the SLDR cap, it was adhesive. I have a hunch any company in the past few hundred years has figured out how to make a screw work correctly, they're not exactly new ;)

haha maybe I was a bit strong with the use of the word "never". Let me word it differently:
From what I have heard, Callaway has no plans to offer this club at a discounted price, now, or in the future. What ends up happening can very well be different than what I have heard. Plans can change.

Why are clubs introduced so early only to not have them available for months later? 2.5 months wait to hit one, I don't get it.
It's called overhanging the market. If you were in the position to be buying a new driver right now, the hope is that you'd wait based upon the announcement to try the new driver and potentially become a customer. It also gives them the chance to take pre-orders, gauge demand and have enough units produced for day 1 availability to satisfy the majority of customers. It also helps the retailers to plan their catalogs, websites, etc.

I've never been the biggest fan of Callaway, never even played one of their clubs (xhot came close); but, the Alpha looks fantastic. Since I struggle with too high of spin, this should be a serious contender for next year; especially since PING decided to throw a racing stripe on their new driver.

Do these aesthetically live up to the hype of the 40 page love fest?
I like the shape but not a big fan of the Ironman/Optimus prime look/color (mainly the BB Alpha). In addition, the BB Alpha headcover is god awful. If I had to pick one on looks alone, I'd go with the BB (although the tech in the Alpha seems really cool).

I havent hit it yet but everyone who has seems to say they perform so I guess I have to wait until Feb to give a full pass/fail grade (Danny Lee saying he gained 15 yards so it seems to have a lot of potential).

At least this model release is something new and innovative. Both look good from the top, not so much from the bottom. Head shape looks like the Razr Fit. There should be enough adjustability to fit almost any golfer.

If you can get already get optimum spin rates with a more conventional driver, I cant see how the Alpha would offer any improvement. Much like the SLDR, the Alpha will probably benefit high spin players the most.

How much does the gravity core actually weigh and what difference will flipping it do to the COG ? This is one area where Callaway could easily show the differences with an Iron Byron test.

Bag Setup - changes too often to bother listing

First time watching any of the Callaway video but does Harry look/act a little like Tosh.0 with a splash of Sean Foley (glasses and sweater vest)? I was expecting some boring tech talk but it was pretty cool.

Don't take this the wrong way Harry but you seem perfect for the TM facepaint/Rocketballz gig...with the over-the-top hand gestures and general excitement for the product. I think its a good thing and just seems to fit the TM marketing a little more (but that can also be my perception that Callaway was a old/boring company).

anyways good job.
