The only thing uglier than the SLDR is the new Big Bertha. Wow. Aesthetics don't mean anything anymore.
Oh come on now, these look better than the SLDR. Less Walmart-like. The sole of the Alpha kinda reminds me of Iron Man for some reason

Is there been any confirmation on fairway lofts and the adjustability range of the fairway woods? Also the comment made stating regarding the x2 hot will not bode well. I know the bertha range will be the flagship but still stating the flagship model will go further straight up will deter the run of the mills buyers. Really like the look of the BB alpha driver. The BB not so much, I think the BB will be more of 18 index type club the will be better suited to the guy that doesn't play a great deal and the BB alpha to the guys that play a fair amount of competition golf. I think the weight in the stock shafts may not be the the majority's liking, 50 grams is getting a bit on the low side. I thought the Optifit was the low weight high speed option in the range. Its hard to see where the x2hot range sits in comparison with these. I think x2hot will be the second class citizen in the callaway line up the way things are reading. What will be the standard length of these? I will guess 45.5.....

I do think this driver looks pretty cool, love the shape and the look from address.. however, at $500, this driver has huge flop potential. I hope it lives up to this insane amount of hype!

Indeed. As is the 65g that was mentioned for the fairway. I'm hoping that the higher weighted versions of the same shafts are going to be a $0 change

I like Cally but the fact that they state in the fairway wood video that you are going to get more ball speed than the X2 Hot fairway, a club yet to be released, is kind of ridiculous and deserves the criticism they are getting on here.

That said, if they offer a 4 wood, I'll be trying it.

3 Wood is adjustable from 14-17 If I remember correctly...so..strong 3, 3, and 4 wood all in one head!

Alpha weight is 12g in the Core

What's the weight in the sliding track for the Bertha weigh?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe it's 8g.
Correct..but there is 20 grams more weight right under the track on the back half of the head evenly dispersed in the head...creates great MOI!! Able to do this due to the Forged Composite crown being so light weight

The color scheme could have been better IMO. The blue, red, red bullseye looks cheesy and something that I could see at Dicks. I think if they went all black with come added color it would look much better. The staff bag and patent leather head-covers are Nickent level IMO.

With all that said, they both look good from above and the Alpha offers something new. I hope they have the FT sound and feel.

Nice! Thanks for the insight Dscvrr! I wasn't aware of the total weight. Maybe I missed it while watching all those videos on the new Cally website lol.

Both look good, glad I did not pull the trigger with the SLDR....
Now, what's the story behind that falling apple on the head cover?
The legend says that Isaac Newton discovered gravity (which lead to him authoring the law of universal gravitation) when he saw an apple fall. You can interpret in many ways, but by judging from a number of responses the gravity of the club definitely pulls WRXers towards it.
Ummm, don't we want the golf ball to defy gravity?
I seem to be getting lot of defective golf balls that indeed defy gravity. They should drop but just keep floating and floating past the hole into the rough. On the way out of the rough, they refuse to get in the air at all. The said balls also appear to exhibit magnetic polarity identical to that of the pin and cup.

Last time I checked, gravity is not a statistical phenomena where individual readings vary but I'd better double check. My golf seems to force revalidation of a whole number of laws of physics.

Meanwhile, I suggest golf cups and pins to be made of heavier material to help the ball gravitate towards the hole.

Nice work, Callaway.

In the absence of a spare $4-500, liberal use of lead tape on my existing driver will have to do.
yeah couldnt one one put lead tape on the crown or sole to achieve same effect as gravity core? Wont look the best but still save you $499
not without increasing the head weight and SW.

The BB looks good, the Alpha not so much. I will give the BB a try in February and maybe trade in my RFE which was okay but not better than my 910D3.

Different shafts in the BB and Alpha, anyone know what is the difference?

The Alpha is not meant to be the best-selling driver. It is not a driver for the masses. It will not be produced, nor stocked, like it will be the best-selling driver. It is for people who need it. And not all 10,000 members of WRX who say they hit it 320 and have 125 SS will need it. The BB is GREAT. The dispersion numbers are astounding. At $400, it will most definitely NOT be a flop. Threads like these do a great job reminding everyone that WRX is NOT indicative of the golf industry as a whole. Remember, the BB is the one for 99% of golfers. And it is GREAT. Have too much spin, and don't want to go down in loft/play a boardy shaft? Then go with the Alpha. It's pretty simple, really.

MOI has been maxed on drivers for years.
Most drivers out there are not near max MOI...for a standard shaped 460cc head..around 5000 is max...for a Square head 5900 is maxed out....not many out there near that.

This is hilarious....

Didn't even cross my mind...

Did they really outdated a piece of equipment before it's even hit the shelves?!???!??

I know... Different players will benefit from different clubs... Buts let's be real... We're talking the general public here... Not WRX'rs

I dropped my IPad from laughing when I saw this...

Well Played Sir.
Are the BB fwys going to cost the same as X2Hot? I didn't see any mention of it, but based on the drivers I'll assume they do.

If BB costs more the first question I'd ask is what am I getting for the premium price?

Seems like the answer is adjustability and more ballspeed.

As someone who has not hit it yet, but has read way too much unsubstantiated hype about this club, at $500, there is huge flop potential, I'm not talking about the $400 model. I have yet to hear the $400 model be labeled a being "as big of a difference as going from a steel head to a titanium head". I'm not saying it will flop, just saying it could and hope it doesn't as I plan on hitting it.

I love reading all these "GolfWRX is NOT indicative of the golf industry as a whole" statements, it's becoming the "go-to" canned OEM fanboy response to anything contrary to their own opinions. Hilarious.
