If TW plays this well with his new driver next year, watch out record books!!!
The driver is helping, but the shaft is slowing him down and helping keep him in the fairway. That's huge.
Do you think he will stick with this setup or go back to what he was playing before?
The way he's hitting it don't see any reason for changing, seems like the heavier shaft is making him much more confident with dog, which is translating through the rest of the bag

yea I think the fact that it made it into his bag during a tournament means he's already made up his mind he's going with it. He's past the test mode if it's in play. and if today's round is any indication, he's doing things right.

Those are some pretty strong opinions about 2 pretty well respected golf clubs. I'm not saying they are "classics" but both are fairly newer facilities. You must be a very good player because both courses have some great shot values and are both pretty fair tests.

One, I have played them both and that's my opinion. You and others are entitled to yours.

Two, as far as a pretty good player I was a +1 hdcp for about 20 years while working as a club professional (I have been a PGA Golf Professional for 31 years) and have played over 7000 rounds at 400 - 500 golf courses (about 70 of the top 100 course in Golf Digest).

Three, most of the PGA Tour players who have played both would tell you the same thing cuz I've heard quite a few say it.

TW has said before that he does annual testing that includes other OEMs. A few years ago at the Tavistock Cup he hit Darren Clark's R11 and it caused like a 20 page thread. Sorry for not being Greg.

Never seen him hit another OEM's club but he looks at the equipment of other players he's playing a round of golf with quite often. If he was hitting other clubs it would be away from the public/media.

I would doubt he has WRX account. Doesn't seem to be a club junkie.

I followed along pretty well...Said the new shaft is much heavier than the average Joe's driver shaft, slightly softer in the tip to add more spin, and hoping the extra weight will slow his tempo down.
+1 exactly, maybe they ( GC) didn't explain it WRX style but there's only a few of us that need to know it was tipped .75 in to play less tip stiff then his old WB which was tipped 1.25". According to GC He's playing a BB thats less tip stiff then the WB. I felt they explained it pretty good for the lay person. Maybe not as well for the equipment wrx junkie!

I think Tiger has used 103 BB off and on for a number of years.
I don't recall that. He's used the heavier BB shafts in his FW's, but driver was typically an X-stiff (and tipped) in the 70-80 gram weight range...think it was typically a WB or Tour AD...he did use an EPIC for a VERY brief time.
Shaffa77 you are correct, Tiger never used a 103X in his driver he always used a 73X WB or GD Tour AD 6X . He has played BB 103 X in fairway woods so no changes there. I know one of his wins this past year Tiger used the GD Tour AD 6X in his driver. here's his WITB for last years wins:

Awesome round by Tiger today. I have been missing that for a while.

How did he hit the driver? I didn't see one shot where he hit it.

I didn't see him hit the driver, but he only missed one fairway in total.

2 things:
1) most people don't swing that heavy of a shaft in a fairway wood. Wow! But, apparently it is working because he is murdering it and hitting fairways thus far.

2) The new Nike ball must be pretty sweet, because Tiger has switched as well as a large majority of the Nike staff. We aren't hearing much of the staff complain or groan about a lack of performance and feel (ie 20xi, aka rocks).

Haha what if he was one of the biggest "tiger hate fanbois" on the board always took every opportunity to make a comment about it or he is truly the person who hits it 310 and paces the ball where he wants all the time and hits baby cuts power cuts high draws etc . And will always comment that's hardly impressive .

Congrats to GolfWRX on breaking this news (the BB 103X) with pictures. I think this is a very big story. A month ago, I resolved that I'd be building myself a driver with a 100+ gram shaft this winter. This news will only add to that general discussion.

I have always been fascinated by Tiger Woods' very, very conservative choices in clubs and shafts. I will always remain convinced that if we had not had the inventions of solid core urethane balls and very light composite shafts, that Tiger Woods would have been even more dominant in the game of golf.

The funny thing is that there isn't a club in Tiger's bag that I'd want to play with. I know that those old-design Mizuno clone forged irons fit Tiger's eye and they are essentially custom irons for him. To each his own. Those glued Nike Covert woods wouldn't hold a candle to my own TaylorMades, with adjustable hosels. (Tiger can test two dozen new drivers and get each of them bent. I can't.) And I'll take my Vokeys over Tiger's Nike wedges. I never cared for the Nike putters. Does anybody play one without getting paid to do so?

But that is all sort of beside the point. The big news by far is that 103 Blue Board. I think it is a great story. Great for Golf WRX to break it.

Next thing I want to see are the detailed, confirmed specs on that driver. Length, swingweight, head weight and total static weight; loft, lie and face angle. I so wish that somebody would do an interview with Tiger, assuring him that there won't be any personal/ex-wife/gf/family/knee/health/PED questions, if he will promise to open up about his equipment.
