Looks like Dave Franklin lied to the guys that went The Oven and all of WRX. Those grooves look painted on, for sure.
Why don't you read the other 5 threads that already deal with this topic before calling nike employees liars. The face is not painted on, and Greg, the one taking pictures, has even said he doesn't believe it's painted. I'd put my money on them filling the grooves with the polymer and milling the face afterwards. It would look exactly like this and not have to deceive people. Whether or not it still utilizes the method tech and it's roll, who knows, but I highly doubt it's paint.

As far as tigers putting, he still is the greatest lag putter out there. The putter he uses has absolutely zero influence on his putting. He puts in hours and hours of putting work to where he knows how the club is going to act. His scotty (or any scotty) isn't some magical putter that holes putts for him.

Ok I get the first half of your response.

However to say that 'The putter he uses has absolutely zero influence on his putting.' might be a bit of a stretch.

Especially watching Tiger choke a few opportunities away on the putting green these past few years I have to think and agree with others on this forum that he was better with the Cameron putter.

Just sayin.

This is the 2nd or 3rd time I've shot his clubs handheld close-up and anytime he has a new club in the bag, Joey lets me shot that club.

Amazing work getting these Greg, can't imagine how hard it is to get that much access to his tools

Not that hard. Joey said "here are the clubs, I'm going to lunch let me know when you're done".

Tiger had finished his round, was having lunch, then his presser before he was going to practice.

A refreshing change for TeamTiger.

Never had any problems with Stevie when he was on Tiger's bag and I've shot Adam's close up handheld WITB photos since Stevie has been with Adam. So no worries there, "Know what i'm saying?"!

Question:

If the polymer isn't raised, and is simply flush with the milled face, what's the point in it even being there? Is there another Method anywhere on earth, with milled polymer-fill, other than Tiger Woods' Method?

Yes. Rory has one. Not sure what other staffers do as well, but even one of the members of the oven trip, pure745, had a one off rory putter built and given to him. Not painted. It is in many different threads here.

He didn't use the method until a few years ago. Some might also say he isn't the same golfer that he used to be. Tiger choking doesn't have to do with the type of putter. He's the one putting the stroke on the ball. It's funny because he will go out and shoot 62 and makes everything he looks at, but then he has a bad round or tournament and all of a sudden he would have made those putts if he had his scotty. If it was the putter, his putting wouldn't be hot and cold. It would just be cold.

That makes things pretty clear haha.

Must be the deeper milled pattern on the face of the newer one that makes the grooves looks suspicious in pics.

Amazing pics!

To say he was a better putter when he used the Cameron is different than saying he was better because of the Cameron.

I believe all of the Tour putters from The Oven are milled like Tiger's. There are YouTube videos readily available that show the entire process.

I guess all I can say is ........WOW!

I could care less if Waffle House gals get the blood flowing.....thanks for the most in depth look into your bag! Shows respect to the game!

Not really knowing a lot about is putter, I have a question for those that do know about it.

It's Beached correct? But in all the pics I could not see the gap from the top view pics. Is the gap cut all the way thru or not?

Last, do we think that the lead tape job was actually done by Tiger? If not, could one imagine being the person that lead tapes his putter!

WOW AGAIN!

Great Job WRX for getting these pics....man, this is sweet

Interesting. I believe you.

Next questions: Is there a substantive purpose for the polymer-filled grooves? If so, what? Or is it to give the appearance that certain high-profile players are using Nike Method putters when in fact they'd prefer to use standard milled-face putters?

Great pics Greg.

And to the folks saying the grooves in one of the putters are "painted on" please watch the video below. At about the 2:00 mark they talk about milling the grooves in the face--which is after the polymer has been added and after the face has been flymilled.

I'm certain the putter that looks like the polymer is flush with the face is a putter that has had the last milling step skipped. No big deal. (in the video you can see the putter in just that state at the 1:55 mark)

i'm surprised his putters are that dinged up.

Lol, this was exactly my first thought. My guess is that he doesn't put the headcover on during practice rounds back home. He is notorious for playing really fast at home so I bet he doesn't want to slow down to put the cover on.

EDIT: I should not have accused anyone of lying. Thanks for clarifying Greg. Great pics as always.

I stand by my statement, that the putter grooves "look" to be painted on!
LOL.. I wasn't sure if you were kidding or not. Of course they look painted, it's part of the process.. of milling the polymetal grooves at the same time as the face. I remember people were 100000% convinced they were painted and I was going to go take pictures of my Rory, but then remembered that would be like like rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic ;)
