Can't believe what I'm reading......he's had a one bad round...he's finished....never been impressed with his swing..tee to green game etc. Does he have the big, in your face smash the golf course to pieces game of Rory et al....no.....does he do all the boring stuff brilliantly and scores..yep. Maybe not the ideal game for selling loud lime green and silver golf gear or stupid flat bill caps to kids but pretty effective at winning golf tournaments!

You just correctly described Luke Donald.

and Gary Player......worked out OK for him?

Sure but Luke Donald is a flipper who tried to sort his swing and showed zero aptitude in winning major tournaments. Speith has probably one of the most stable club heads through impact and goes without saying has the what it takes to not just win majors but dominate.

I am not old enough to have seen Gary Player. I just know what MY opinion is....Rory will resume his dominance within short order. Fowler and Day will better compete with Rory than Speith (over the long term)- count'em up in 2022

Last year I would follow spieth an entire round and the most impressive thing would be the score he shot. Often times I would wonder how the hell he shot 68 or whatever it was. It just wasn't impressive, he sort of plodded along with a great short game. At times I found his driving to be impressive, laser draws in fairway under pressure but other than that it was like, what, wait, how did he shoot 67 just now.

I've never been impressed with his golf swing, and his game tee to green. Today he showed his deficiencies in his driving ability, and he wasn't able to salvage something with what has been his superb putting.

lol yeah he only was like top 10 in literally every segment of the game last year, pretty crappy tee to green really.

2015 stats : http://www.pgatour.com/players/player.34046.jordan-spieth.html/statistics

4th in strokes gained tee to green

8th in strokes gained putting

4th in scrambling

Spieth has one bad round and it's...

'OMG the sky is falling.'

'Spieth is done.'

'He's worst golfer ever.'

'He's no better than Todd Hamilton.'

...and let's completely ignore he destroyed the field little more than a month ago.

Haters gonna hate.

Trolls gonna troll.

You see it all the time here. I remember when Rory's career was over after having a bad tournament.

Jordan shoots 68 tomorrow and Rory shoots 1 over. That's usually how it goes.

Yep. The #1 player in the world has the swing of a 10 handicap and won two majors because he got hot with a putter.

Boom, nailed it. This sentence works best without the irony

I disagree with people saying he was only on fire last year because of an impossibly hot putter, over the course of last year he ranked higher in strokes gained tee to green than he did in strokes gained putting. Kyle Porter wrote an article comparing the big 4 golfers to the big 4 in mens tennis. He compared Jordan to Djok, perfect comparison in my mind, doesn't look incredible but is just so relentless and dialled in.

Here's the link http://www.cbssports...-novak-djokovic

Except when, you know, he shoots 80 in perfect conditions at Riviera lol

Jordan Spieth does not have a bad swing. He has a quirky way of holding on through the hitting zone, but it's not a bad swing.

Which is the most important part of the swing

I'm a hack. But I find that my best scoring rounds are also the ones that were mostly boring. Laser draws in the fairway are a great way to start a round of 67... Or so I'm told.

He's got nothing left to play for and it shows. Nothing left to prove. He reached the summit.

He bought Hunter Mahan's house! HUNTER FOOKING MAHAN!

If you're not a bit lost and feeling a bit empty on the inside after that, and struggling for direction, well you ain't human man.

I have to agree with the posters who say that he's tired. He didn't look himself at Pebble last week either.

Hawaii, Abu Dhabi, Singapore, then back to the US for two events, with all the commitments that go with being World number 1, reigning masters and US Open champion, all within in six weeks, maybe too much for anyone.

Jordan is far from done, but I don't expect him to repeat the successes of last year.

If that's a valid argument, it only shows how good Player, Norman and Els were and how good Rory is.

I see a gap. There definitely is a gap.
