Fujikura's new Ventus shafts

Patrick Reed using @FujikuraOnTour Ventus 6X in the driver. He’s tipped 1.5” with Fuji in the past for stability. Decided to go with no tipping because it added a little more spin, helped him turn it over.

Interesting.

In other new, I'm totally having bag envy right now. That is a wild (in a good way) set up you have.

i wanna try try this shaft as well. heard the Pro orange is very similar

They may be similar in tip stiffness, but aside from that quite different.

The Ventus is traditionally balanced and I would even say it leans towards being tip heavy. The Pro Orange is counterbalanced by design.

Actually they are quite similar. The tip stiffness of the ventus is a hair more and the mid is a hair less than TPO but the balance point is almost identical. I actually had to add 1g strip of lead tape when I put the ventus in at the same length as my TPO so it’s actually a hair more CB than the TPO.

The Ventus is definitely not counterbalanced. I can't speak to your builds but Fuji will tell you its not and I have a Tensei Pro White and Smoke which are not CB and it is tip heavier than those by a fraction. Same grip, same length.

Maybe this was answered somewhere, but why is the Ventus better or different than the Atmos TS Blue line. I was thinking of going with an Atmos TS Blue 6 or 7 X shaft.

I've never hit the Ventus and don't know where I could go to hit it without just buying it.

It's not necessarily better. It's supposed to ,on paper, launch and spin slightly lower. But that doesn't always mean better. The Ventus is a new design with some features to add stability, but the Atmos TS isn't unstable by any means. If you put a Ventus up against a TS Blue in identical setups, I wouldn't be suprised if you saw conditions that would both work in your driver with a little variation here and there.

If you are comparing Ventus to Atmos Black, the feel difference is huge. The Black does not have the same bending feel that Ventus has.

Can you further expand on the difference between the Atmos Black and Ventus? Totally different profiles?

So does the Ventus shaft have a full smooth bend in the down swing like the GD DI shaft? Trying to get a sense of how this shaft feel during the swing.

I have the AD DI in a 3 wood and played it in a driver before. The Ventus is smoother with a less pronounced kick. It has more of a full length flex feel to me but definitely smoother which is hard to accomplish. Feel is subjective though so TIFWIW.

I can only speak to the Ventus 6x shaft but after several range sessions on the simulator and even played 18 holes on the sim as well, it's really smooth. I feel the load in my hands enough that I have a better feel for the timing of my swing but not too much to where you feel like the club head will never catch back up. The shaft seems to kick really consistently as I immediately noticed an improvement on my dispersion. Even on miss hits. I'm 100% in on this shaft right now.

I purchased mine through JD’s clubs for $550 (head and shaft). I thought that was a good deal. $100 above retail to get the ventus shaft added.

That's a very good deal. What head did you go with?!? I am getting mine through JD, as well. Between this and the Cobra F9 head, I hope to not miss a fairway this year...hahaha

Just reach out to JD, directly. He's extremely responsive and will get back to you within hours. He can really do any combo regardless of whether it's a manufacturer option or not.

**NOT trying to push any vendor, just trying to help you out! I had the same scenario once and he was like "i have the shaft, I have the head; no problem!" Just reach out!

Hit mine some more today. Absolutely love this thing. So predictable. I will say though, I can't get quick from the top. The softer handle loads effortlessly. I need to use it some more and trust it'll do what I want it to do without getting quick from the top.

Ventus profile really reminds me of Modus 120. A 7X playing 44'' in my LTD sounds really nice...

I'd agree with that comparison as one who's played the Modus 120 for a couple of years.

Nothing is safe in my bag!

Go back and read my original assessment after my fitting. Same exact description. Even so, I may be moving on from mine. Spent a good bit of range time and while it is very straight and dispersion is incredible, I am having trouble finding the center of the face. Not sure if I need to move to X or lighter. Hate to do it but looks like I need to.

Very intrigued that Reed and Walker are testing! Both traditionally low low guys. Rogue had the Rogue 125 in his bag forever. I loved that shaft so I’m encouraging that I’ll love the Ventus.

Rogue 125 is a great shaft, but it sounds like the Ventus is much smoother feeling. The Rogue is stout. I have it and was testing the Epic SZ with it. I have a Cobra tip for it, but my current shaft is working very well in it so far.

Agreed! Definitely a firm feel. I'm just surprised given how different they are on "paper." But, awesome to see it getting traction on tour, regardless!

This shaft feels very different to me. It feels like it has a lot of flex to it. On miss hits it feels like it has a lot of play but the ball just sails straight, it is the weirdest sensation. Not bad, it is just different than I am used to. My ss is around 104 and I generally like shafts that feel very stiff like the pro orange. I hit a ventus 5 stiff tipped 1/2â€. I also have a 6 stiff tipped 1/2†that I shafted but have not hit yet. I have not hit it on a launch monitor yet. It is a shaft that is very easy to load but very hard to over power.

I compared the 7x versions. Ventus has a lot more feel to it and a little higher launch. Spin wasn't too far off, your golf ball or driver loft would make a bigger difference.

Im either going to go with the M6 or the ST190 with the atmos black 6x and the ventus 7x in 3w. I’ll most likely go with the 10.5 head and turn it down a bit to bring spin down a tad and open the face up
