You can’t just bet my signed dollar. That’s a family heirloom that should be passed down the generations of the GMen clan.

I doubt my stepkids would feel the same.

You could put them up for adoption in a package deal with Mizzy’s. Get some new kids that would appreciate the family history.

My wife would be very delightful if I told her whom I paired with tomorrow!

two more rounds to declare myself correct but i was worried about tiger playing this course from too far back. so i went and compared him and rory. i only think there have been two or three holes where tiger is hitting a different club. I think most of the difference between them demonstrates how big of an edge rory due to his driver. the following are how much closer to the hole tiger has been on tee shots (except the short 12th and par 3s)

round one: 21 yards closer, 83 yards further away, 38 yards further away, 30 yards farther away, 10 yards closer, 6 yards farther away, 24 yards farther away, 20 yards farther away, 15 yards farther away, 44 yards farther away, 27 yards farther away, 5 yards closer, 35 yards farther away.

his tee shot on 2 really messes with this number but overall on those 13 holes his approaches were from 286 yards farther away.

round two: 19 yards farther away, 16 yards farther away, 37 yards farther away, 47 yards farther away, 25 yards farther away, 17 yards closer, 56 yards farther away, 26 yards closer, 13 yards farther away, 5 yards closer, 19 yards farther away, 1 yard farther away, 64 yards farther away

13 holes his approaches were from 249 yards away.

due to skill and strategy rory is on pace to play 4 days worth of approaches on 13 holes from ONE THOUSAND less yards total.

That was a great round at the Woodlands (I think that was the course) with City, Mizzy, and Tex. Lots of fun was had and some very good golf shots were hit. City carried us to a 2nd place finish but it was just a fun relaxed day all around. I wish I played better, but scraped around enough actual golf to go with my generous strokes that we finished well. But this was a far more successful round than this time last year, especially on the greens where I threatened to bury my putter last year and I made some decent putts, of course it wasn’t the same putter so I may have been right last year. All in all great fun and thanks to everyone that played and put this thing on.

That was fun. I liked how the course set up, but that wind was just brutal. Played alongside Vin-man, Ceejay, and his bud. I was a dog using the driver through the first 4 holes and I finally took off the Footjoy jacket.

After that, most of my drives were flying high and straight. Couldn’t say the same for the rest of my game, but what can ya do? I think we placed second-or third to last in the event.

Vin could move it, and hit some awesome approaches. We just couldn’t capitalize on good position.

Fun to get back out and play. It sucks that I’ll have to miss the classic Trolls Riding Unicorns, but I should have about 8-10 more rounds played between today and the Intra-Club Conflict to get something figured out. This week is a good week for at least 2 of them.

As always, thanks to the people who get these events running.

Thanks for great hosting. It was fun with occasional embarrassment with couple shanks and hooks.

I was barely recognize anyone by alias here but I guess you want to keep in that way with amount of trolls and jokes in this thread.

Hope to see you guys in next event and I play better as weather gets warmer (excuses)

It was a tough day out there for sure. Wind was howling and made all of the easy wedge shots in to tough approaches. Lots of good strikes that were a little short/long/left/right. Easy/stock chips are the biggest thing I haven't practiced in months, and I didn't hit a single passable one. For as bad as the scoring was though, I felt okay about the swing. Preseason undeserved optimism is sticking with me until at least next weekend.

No one in our group had played there before, and it punished us. Sounds like we were one of the few/only groups with no experience there. It probably cost us 3 strokes over the round at least. On 9 we all thought the hole went left when it goes right. There's a clump of trees out there and we all thought they were on the right side of the fairway. One-T Hive Mat flushed one that we thought was leaking right, but it was in the trees on the left. We got lucky that we hit a mediocre tee shot on the same line that didn't reach those trees.

SoloShot was pretty hard on himself, but he was getting more strokes than me and was playing better. He's got a solid swing and was rarely in trouble off the tee. We both struggled near the green though, which sank us. His green-side struggles are probably mostly because he is playing Top Flites, for goodness sake. He had a good chip stroke and has practiced with the Top Flites though, because he hit them closer than I did at any point.

Woodlands was an easier walk than people warned me about. I'd say it's an equivalent walk to Waverly Woods. That means it's a tough walk and I wouldn't recommend it to most people. I just don't think it was as bad as people made it seem. It was a good way to stay warm on a cool windy day.

Lol. I almost left ball behind instead marking it with tee because they are THAT cheap! Hey. I wouldnt be able to smashing my shots if I would dead worry about losing $5 ball every shot.

Final groups at the Players are awesome. We’ll definitely get to see if Rory and Tommy are able to overcome their recent reputation as unable to close on the weekend.

I like Rory in the 2nd group to avoid some pressure. I don’t like him playing with slow poke SickDay. Totally opposite sides of the pace of play spectrum. I wonder if that’s one of the reasons he doesn’t seem to play as well on the weekend when in the front. He’s at the end of the pack that is always slower, vs the weekday when he’s in the middle of the field in terms of hole placement, and can play at a more normal pace for him.

Had a great time playing in the tournament yesterday with aiyyer and 827. Christian and I finished at -1. We had 5 birds and 4 bogeys. That wind was brutal at times yesterday. We only used 3 of my tee shots on non par 3’s yesterday, so I essentially shot an 85 off his tee ball all day. I hit quite a few good shots yesterday. I’ll be taking some lessons soon to turn around my tee game. I’m at such a disadvantage not being able to hit the driver well or really more than 200. Once I get that figured out, bye bye 20+ handicap.

Hive post on google. Link for album there, sorry only took 6 pics. Final scores posted.

Great day playing with ButteryCut and Fort. As some other echoed, certainly my gad a bit of andvantage with knowing the course. Wind cancelled out that advantage. Tee game was really working, out us in some good spots, just didn’t take advantage of them. Went Net birdie, birdie on 4 and 5th. We ham and egg well except for two holes, which killed us. Got it to -3 and then the rails came off.

Funniest moment was both BCut and I nutted drives on 16, both were 10 yards off the green.....and all four players had chips run out and off the back of the green. Pretty much summed up the day for both teams.

Buttery had some shots working , but was deff off his A game. Fort struggled off the tee a bit but still manage to hit some nice shots, like sticking it on #8.

Thanks again for all that came out. I think I only missed one person yesterday with handing out the 2019 Member Kit for The Hive. I’ll have them with me at Trolls next month.

Kind of a crazy day... As a team we made bogeys on 1, 2, 7, 9, 10 and everyone of them we had a wedge in!

But, I birdied 3. Ogre net birdied 4 off my tee ball. I birdied 5. Ogre net eagled 6 off my tee shot. Just the way we drew it up. We gave a few back, then ogre net birdied 13 and 14 off my tee balls so that got us back in the hunt.

We caught a break on 16 when I lost my tee shot right and we found the ball on the 17 tee box for the tips and had a clear look at the pin.

Very windy. Greens were rolling OK but not great.

I think the strokes worked out pretty well. A few teams were a bit under par, then a bunch gathered around par and some crap at the top.

Couple of hiccups, well done Ben for running your first event.

Thanks to every one who came out.

I think our group was the runaway leader for most cigars smoked.

It didn't really feel like Gmen and I had any bad holes but we couldn't keep any good momentum going for an extended stretch of holes. A few net birdies and two gross birdies, but also a few missed short putts and wedges landing on the wrong downslopes. With that wind you definitely had to come into the pins from specific angles to keep approaches close.

I narrowly avoided a WD on the second hole. My hat was blowing off and I reflexively stabbed my hand at it, and jammed my right ring finger against the roof of the cart. Swelling wasn't too bad but I couldn't feel the finger until the back nine.
