Just go in the summer. You will probably have fog. But it won’t rain. I know on the broadcast this morning, they were saying that it was raining. But that was just the typical “heavy mist”. :) So get a tee time later in the day, and you should be good.

Actually, 9 holes are right along the water. 4 thru 10 and 17 and 18. And, IMO, the most beautiful area of water anywhere. As the quote goes, the "greatest meeting of land and water in the world."

I've played Pebble and Spyglass and I'll say with no hesitation that Spyglass is a better course. Pebble is PRETTIER for sure but Spyglass was a far more fun round of golf.

I think it depends on who you ask. You hear all that sand and salt is not good for them. I don’t believe it myself but I hear that.

I think the statement here is how animals, dogs mostly, have replaced kids in so many instances in society. Let’s get real, they are dogs. I for one get tired of dogs showing up every dang place in public. If someone wants to live in a kennel thats their business. But I won’t eat at a restaurant that permits them even on the back patio. And don’t even start with Dog Parks.

So you are opposed to dogs being on Pebble Beach? To each his own, fine. But wow, that is harsh IMO. Everyone on Pebble Beach seems to enjoy themselves and get along.

Haven’t ever blocked anyone on this site, or any site for that matter....until now.

Block away. You have that right. But I’m still here, even if your hands are covering your eyes.

I never said we should ban dogs from beaches, or any place for that matter. What I said was that I find it too much for animals to be in constant tow as if they are one’s child. That’s not really strange in my book.

It was a spectacular view.

There's no twilight rate at Pebble. Everyone pays full freight.

I guess that’s one wall we can all agree on?

New year's 1995 stayed at a ground floor room at the lodge overlooking the 18th green. 199 night. Played pebble for 150. I recall a couple of temps due to att prep. The shots I recall are tee shot on 6, tee shot on 9 and approach on 13. 17 and 18 were major letdowns that look much better from the air. Like flat Florida golf.

As for cost, I know people who drop 20k a year on dues at Brentwood cc and play a dozen times max a year. And that course is basically a superbly conditioned Muni!

> Who owns Pebble Beach today? Is it the same ownership group that bought it back from the Japanese developer back in the early 90s headed up by Arnold Palmer, Clint Eastwood & Peter Ueberroth?

Same group owns the resort today, in fact they interviewed Peter Ueberroth earlier this week. As they put it the resort if public, but it does cost a lot to play. So public if you can afford it. It's $550 plus $95 caddie fee plus tip. And that's if you get a tee time, which from what I hear you have a better chance if you stay at the Lodge which can be up to $1000. So it's a VERY EXPENSIVE bucket list item, but it's still on mine and hopefully I'll get there one day. But I'd love to play Bandon, Pinehurst and others as well. Some day hopefully.
