OG 3deep came with pxv shaft that was pretty soft. The X2 3deep came with the tour green, much better shaft, but like you said came untipped off the shelf. I had a couple of the X2's as well and I did what you are talking about. Made a significant improvement.

TaylorMade Original One 13.5. Try it. Incredible tee club and no problem hitting it off the deck, although that's harder for some than others. Hasn't been an issue for me so far.

I'm actually playing the 11.5, and I can hit that off the deck as well, but for most people using it as a 3 wood replacement, the 13.5 is the better option.

highly recommend the Titleist TS3 be given a look as far as current product lines. confidence inspiring look from address and great feel. face is plenty deep to make it a suitable club from a small tee peg off the tee. just as long as any fairway I've ever had in play if the loft and shaft are right for you. previously used callaway, ping, TM over the last twenty years.

Haha, bad suggestion on my part then! Not too long ago they were plentiful on eBay, just did a quick search and they are becoming tougher to find.

If you can find one though, really, they are as good as it gets.

Take a look at the various Tour Edge "beta" model FWs from the past eight years. These are deep face woods good off tee, and great off the fairway if you don't chop down on your FW shots. Solid margin of error if you have decent clubhead speed and don't need low profile head to get airborne.

What's In The Bag (As of April 2023, post-MAX change + new putter)

Driver:  Tour Edge EXS 10.5° (base loft); weights neutral   ||  FWs:  Calla Rogue 4W + 7W

Hybrid:  Calla Big Bertha OS 4H at 22°  ||  Irons:  Calla Mavrik MAX 5i-PW

Wedges*:  Calla MD3: 48°... MD4: 54°, 58° ||  PutterΨSeeMore FGP + SuperStroke 1.0PT, 33" shaft

Ball: 1. Srixon Q-Star Tour / 2. Calla SuperHot (Orange preferred)  ||  Bag: Sun Mountain Three 5 stand bag

    * MD4 54°/10 S-Grind replaced MD3 54°/12 W-Grind.

     Ψ  Backups:

  • Ping Sigma G Tyne (face-balanced) + Evnroll Gravity Grip |
  • Slotline Inertial SL-583F w/ SuperStroke 2.MidSlim (50 gr. weight removed) |

Since today's larger head driver's have such big sweet spots and adjustability, I would suggest trying to shorten that monsterously long driver shaft to around 43.5 inches. In fact my driver and my xhot 3deep have exact same length shafts. I haven't lost any distance and gained a ton in accuracy because now I hit the ball in the center of the face. So much easier to hit than the 3deep. I've actually pulled the 3deep out of my bag.

I think I’m good for now... think I’m going to bunker down for the season and hopefully do a complete bag overhaul in 2020.

I have the E8 Beta in 13* and 16.5* heads with V2 76X and 85X shafts repectively. Both solid heads and perform as expected. 13* isn't that hard to elevate off the deck if needed (rarely) and has it's spot firmly in place in my minimalist bag setup as longest club. 16.5* was my gamer this season after dropping my 915F/Rogue combo. While it was only a touch shorter, the extra loft was more versatile from the rough. Been a fan of TEE for a long time, they make quality fairway woods for sure.

What's In The Ping Moonlite:
Ping Rapture '14 13*
Ping Rapture DI 18*
Titleist 690.CB 4/6/8/PW
Vokey TVD 54*

Definitely!

It is - deepest face I've ever seen on a 3-wood in modern times. Awesome as a "driver" for sure. Mizuno even advertises it as having a deep face so it can be used easily off the tee.

Common knowledge - go to their European site if you want good information: https://golf.mizunoeurope.com/golf-clubs/st-series/st190-fairway-woods/

I put a Diamana Whiteboard 70g shaft in an X2 Hot 3Deep and it was a beast. Made a huge difference. More boring trajectory and great roll.

Mizuno guys, correct me if I'm wrong, It looks like the "regular" ST190 (not the adjustable TS) has the same depth to it so besides the adjustability are there any other major differences? I think I read somewhere it sits a little more open, is there any reason you went with that over the regular?
