What's your goals for 2020?

In no particular order:

Get all the speed back that I lost. End of 2018 I was around 118 with driver, last week I was down to 104-105Break 75Try to practice at least 3 days a week, but aim for 4Completely finalize my bag for the next few years, as my first born is going to limit/end my club ho addiction (any help on this please????) I think having handicap goals, as one person mentioned above, is really the wrong way to try to invoke improvement. Trying to get better should be process driven and not outcome driven. Instead of saying "today I need to make 4 birdies, and no double bogeys", say "today I plan to get up and down at least 50% of the time, and I want to get all my lag putts inside of 5 feet".

Interesting take.... I mentioned a birdie, but to your point maybe just focusing on goals that get you there, such as fairways hit etc.... I may reassess this was a good post, thanks.

Hate to be that guy but I can tell that age is taking it's toll on us. When I hear that things are getting rough, it is easy to see that aging is tough on golf. My dilemma is to reduce the effects of aging as well. It makes the short game tough, especially putting and chipping. When you get older distance searching can really hurt you physically, have to be careful with trying to get the distance back. Move up a tee. I want to break 80, oh well.

(1) Improve my handicap from 8 (today) to 0. This year my handicap improved from 17 to 8, so hopefully I can keep this pace. This will require consistency, good strategies and confidence.

(2) Breake par at least once, and keep the rest of the scores in the 72-79 area (at least 80% of the times).

(3) Improve my putting stroke.

Get index to 4. Currently 6.7.

Have more than half my rounds in the 70s. This year it was 12/43.

Get my average doubles per round below 1. It’s at 2.7 right now.

Improve my course management and focus. I believe I make too many bogeys and doubles by aggressively chasing birdies and pars after mistakes. Little things like aiming at pins rather than aiming at left/right/short/long towards the fat side of greens.

25.6 hc. Aiming to knock at least 8 shots off and get to 18.

Best round this year was 82 (+10) playing off 28, so I know the potential is there.

So, scoring and handicap wise:

- More scores in the 80's & HC <18.

Equipment wise:

- Complete fitted bag. All thats left is driver; will be waiting for the new Callaway offering.

My goals are to get my game back. Been out of golf pretty much for a few years due to really bad tendonitis pain. I just got a cortisone shot recently and pain is better, but still lingering. Just started to play and test the injury again, but golf game sucks badly. Hopefully, I can play pain-free and get my golf game back.

Score consistently in 80'sPlay at least 50% of my rounds without losing more than 1 ballPutt more consistently and average less than 36 putts per roundWalk at least 50% of the rounds I play (I live in SE Louisiana and many days in the summer it is just to hot and humid to walk)Play 5 different courses during the yearHave fun and enjoy myself

2019 was my best golf year ever, after 60 yrs of effort and fun. Never had any good instruction and still, at times, love to 'kill the ball'.

Won the B flight handicappers of 25 players, from 13-25 hcap. Now i'm at 18 h'cap so my intent next year is to get into the A flight. Some knee, lower back and shoulder troubles at times, but can usually work them out. Sure the driver is a bit short, but usually straight. Little confidence in irons 8-5, hybrids OK, within 100 yrds acceptable and putting certainly improving every month.

Birthday soon = 76 yrs but keen to keep playing.

Lord do I feel you there. My average score over my last 20 rounds is 80.65 with 2.5 double bogeys per round.

The doubles are killing me.

At 67, my goals are keep walking and try to maintain / improve the efficiency of my short and slow swing. In 2019, I brought my handicap down from 14 to 12 and reduced my unforced error rate (bad tee shot, bad chip. sand shots and 3 putts)from 4.9 per round to 3.6 per round. For 2020, my target is to improve my chipping and reduce my 3 putts with a handicap target of 10.

Just an older guy with 7 or 8 clubs and a MacKenzie Sunday Walker bag

Two types of goals for me, Improvement and Competition

IMPROVEMENT/FITNESS:

I've been getting a bit "twitchy" with my pitching and chipping. Need to fix my routine here. I've noticed I'm getting quick with my approach and thinking and then, next thing you know, the shot is over with. I need a solid short-game routine like I have with my putting. Will work on that.Continue my stretching routineWalk at least one round a week at my home courseCOMPETITION:

Defend my LA City Senior ChampionshipWin the Inland Empire SeniorWin the Sandpiper Invitational (with B. Helts!)Defend my club's match play club championshipDefend club's gross member-guest championshipDefend club's gross member-member championshipWin my club's gross stroke-play club championshipQualify for and Top-10 at the SCGA Mid-AmQualify for and make the cut at the SCGA AmQualify for the California State AmWin the Costa Mesa City SeniorTop 5 at SCGA Foursomes (B.Helts???)And many others, but those are the ones I can think of off the top of my head!

Best of luck to everyone in achieving their goals in the new year!! :-)

Get my tilts and rotation at impact.

Β

Try to come up with a practice routine that helps me keep my swing, putting and short game in tact.

Β

Improving my short game around the green where I can use the bounce more and get my spin rate to 11,000 rpm on certain shots.

Β

Work on bunker play to improve on long bunker shots (20+ yards)

Β

Improve my ability to aim for the center of the green when the shot calls for it instead of aiming for the middle of the green and steering my swing towards the flag.

Β

Figure out my putting issues and get a checkup every 4 months along with a practice routine to keep putting stroke in tact.

Β

Stop allowing playing partners to give me β€˜gimme putts.’

Β

Drop 25 pounds
