Love the guy. His demeanor on the course is awesome - calm, cool, and never seems to be rattled...total assassin. Nice to see him get that elusive first win...I have a feeling it will lead to more after watching how he played in the FedEx Cup Playoffs this year.

I've been rooting for Patrick Cantlay ever since I came across the article about his best friend and his injury. Just goes to show how determined he is and how good a player he is to come back and play on an exemption. Now with that win, he can get the "employment" worries out of the way and hopefully cruise on to more victories.

 

Before the second shot on the second playoff (which was gutsy and down right remarkable), he had to make a long bogey putt to extend the match with the other two gents!

 

Way to go, Patrick! Can't wait to watch more of this kid.

Great to see Cantlay get his first tour win. I photographed him years ago when he shot 60 at the Travelers as an amateur. Cool customer and recently he’s served notice that he will be a strong contender week in and week out, assuming he just stays healthy.

It's good to know that he's still got it. Remember he has only played 6 pro events since he last won one of the web.com Tour Finals events all the way back in 2013.

It never did really.I believe unless i read wrong he had some genetic spinal anomaly, not scoliosis but something similar. The muscles around the spine were weakened dramatically making him unable to swing. Kudos to him

The golf channel article said that while he was hitting balls in Colonial in 2012, he felt a very sharp pain in his low back, like someone stabbed a knife in his spine. The test results showed a stress fracture at L5. When you look at Tiger or Jason Day, you can pretty much see why they might have back problems. But looking at Cantlay’s swing on youtube prior to 2012, I can’t see how he could actually get a stress fracture. His swing looks so relaxed and effortless. Maybe its genetic who knows. My gut tells me this win is the spark. Jordan and JT better start looking over their shoulders.

He's the real deal for sure. Was #1 am for 55 straight weeks and shot a

round of 60 and finished 2nd at the Travelers when he was an am.
