Best Custom Putter Company

I am thinking about a Custom Putter. Anybody have recommendations of companies to deal with (Byron, Machine, Low Tide, etc)?

Personally Byron, however much of it will depend personal design tastes, budget, custom work wants, etc etc etc.

Have 3, will have more. Have had two strangers buy from lajosi after seeing mine. His stuff is *really* good.

Byron or Machine would be my pick..I've ordered my first Byron a dh89, strongly considered the m10. Both are absolute beautiful putters and both companies are a pleasure to deal with. Really can't go wrong with either.

The guys at Machine will go above and beyond to make you happy and the customizing is endless! I have spoke with Dave (owner) for 30 minutes on my lunch break. At the end of the conversation he said to me " I look forward to building your putter and I am going to have Chris take your order and work with you. If you have any questions feel free to call me at any time."

I have owned two other Machines, a Byron, and a Slighter.

Slighter is another great guy to work with and truely makes some great putters.

Byron Morgan, Kari Lajosi, David Mills are all great putter makers and excellent to work with.
A buddy of mine recently ordered a putter from C&L and said it was a pleasure to work with them as well.

At a high level, I'd agree with this.

Lajosi can literary build a putter based on napkin drawings, build a design for you based on written input or take one of his common heads and customize it with engravings and stamping. Plus, it's a small thing, but he has SEVERAL plate types and finishes to use.

There are a few on that list that I have considered using instead of Lajosi. After looking at options, desire and price, it's NEVER been close. The ROI on a Lajosi is very very good.

I haven't had the pleasure of working with any of those putter builders, except Tom Slighter. He was fantastic to work with. Great custom design with LOTS of communication. I had never ordered a custom butter, nor spent that much on a putter before. Tom was very easy to work with.

I have had custom putters made from Lajosi, Mannkrafted and Xenon. I have loved each of their products and they all offer a little different flavor. It's about you and what design you are after. For communication purposes it is nice to be able to talk to the maker directly when designing something very custom, so a maker here in the states is beneficial in this regard. Both Lamont from mannkrafted and Lumpy from Xenon are great to work with. Great guys!

With over 150 putters I have putters by every mfg I CS. Think of.

Recently Lamont has made me putters working out of the box.
Completely out of the box, the results are awesome.

He's also IMHO the most reasonably priced.

I own putters from Machine, Slighter, Xenon and Low Tide. I have also ownED a Byron, Betti and a couple of Lajosi putters. I have no qualms recommending you go with any of the 4 makers that I still own.

Each has their own strengths and drawbacks and which is best for YOU really depends on what you want. No absolute best for ALL imo. Good luck in your search.

I've always been a Bettinardi guy but, after looking at all the websites listed on this thread, I think my next putter will be a Low Tide. $450 for a solid copper putter? Wow! They've got some pretty cool designs for reasonable prices.

I have seen some of Xenon's creations that have been made with some incredible materials. I would add Lumpy to the above mentioned.

I think it depends on what you are looking for. For good customization and impeccable *fitting*, I would go with Edel. For just pure customization, I really like the Mannkfrafted work.

I have been kicking around the idea of a custom putter. I am left handed and would be interesting in a head shape something like a Scotty squareback or just a blade with a bigger flange. I would want it to be center shafted. What would I be looking at price wise. I have no idea how much a custom putter will cost me.

I would say machine putters for myself, but it really does depend on what your particular putter needs are.

From my personal experience, Byron and Xenon. Byron and Lumpy are without a doubt the most accessible people I have dealt with. If you want an original handmade putter for an unbelievable cost then call Lump at Xenon. Plus, you can get exotic material for a fraction of the cost... think Damascus handmade for under $700 to start. If you can dream it, Lump can make it. If it wasn't for some of the others mentioned on here not getting back to me in more than a weeks time, then I would never have reached out to Lumpy... blessing in disguise.

That being said, I have heard nothing but great things about Lamont and Lajosi... and with the AUD being much weaker than the USD you can get a lot of putter from Kari for not a lot of dough

I'm an Edel guy. Fantastic putters that have made me a MUCH better putter and their customer service is the best I've ever seen.
