I really wanted to like the Nike Vapors, but Golfsmith needs entire sets to demo for me to feel comfortable with spending that kind of coin on an entire set There was no Nike fitting cart to try other shafts either. It's pretty sad that their headquarters doesn't have a fitting cart to try different shaft combos and to limit the demo to a 7 iron will not make me a buyer anytime soon. I guess I'll have to wait for a demo day.

I was told today that Nike had issues with head weights in the carts and postponed them until early in the new year. Metalwoods are coming in late Jan., but hopefully the carts will arrive before that.

I was able to try the Pro's having done the combo's last week as above, and came away unsure of whether I liked them more than the combos. I actually hit the VP between 7-9yds farther than the VPC in a tighter pattern (~183 compared to ~175 for a 7i) and the look is phenomenal, but as Thug Hunter mentioned they were not as forgiving as I expected...if I was even a touch thin I got absolutely no height. They weren't particularly soft for a forged club either, especially compared to the VPC, and I didn't notice any more workability, though that's obviously tough to judge real accurately when hitting in the bay. I do have to say I really like the stock DGS300 shafts in both, though I might actually consider the X and dial up the swing weight a half or so. Still want to try the KBS V anyway because I LOVED it in the Apex Pro.

I think I may be in the minority but I have the pros with dg x100 shafts. Old school. I had c taper stiff in my pro blades and I am so much happier with the heavier weight and less spin.

They don't make a #2 in the speed. You would have to get the #3 and bend it a degree down to 18.

Just received my VP's with Modus 120 stiff. As I unboxed them, I compared them to my Razr MB's and they were very similar from the top. Took a quick trip to the range and it will take a few to get the Modus grooved, coming from PXi 6.0.

It's just a longer 3 iron, no big deal. I'll mainly play it from the tee box. I can't hit a hybrid if my life depended on it.

I'm playing a vapor pro 3 and 4. I prefer these because they are not as forgiving as say a speed for example and if I am hitting them well I know I am playing well. And if I'm not hitting them well then I need to smarten up. Ha ha

It's because their prices are worth the phone call. Only takes a minute. From my experience you can get around 20% off of some brands, plus free shipping and no tax. No brainer for me.

If I might ask what are your feelings on the subtle or distinguishable differences between modus and pxi? I've hit both, not right flex in modus but close enough, and very similar despite weight of the two.Thanks in advance.

Hey guys, wanted to give an update after getting to play the Pro's with PXi 6.0's for the first time today...

Got to play a pretty cold 36 holes today. High was in the 40's so it wasn't ideal but I know some of you would kill for that temp. As I mentioned earlier in the thread I've played AP2's for the last 2 years so this was my first set of true blades.

Looks and Feel:

I know a lot of guys are not a big fan of the volt but after seeing this in person, the volt really makes these things stand out. Had a friend from out of town play with me today and the first thing he mentioned was how distinguishable the irons were. I could hardly get to the range after getting to the course so I could hit them for the first time. First take away was how clean these clubs look at address. The topline is so sleek and really clean to look at. After the first few swings I knew I was really going to enjoy these. As some have previously mentioned, the turf interaction with these clubs is fantastic. Having rained most of the week, the ground was very wet and being a player that is really steep to the ball/takes a divot, I was not digging whatsoever. The iron really just cut through the turf and when hit flush the ball just jumps and you can hardly feel it. Another distinguishable characteristic about these irons is the sound. I really enjoyed how these sounded when struck properly. Although this may sound like a turnoff to some, they had a very "deadening" sound and a distinct "clack". I personally love the way these sound and would be interested to hear how you guys think about the sound of these irons.

Performance:

[b]Trajectory:[/b] One of my biggest peformance areas of emphasis was going to be trajcetory. I have always had issues keeping my ball flight down and I was hoping I was going to be able to control it better with these clubs. I know the shafts aided a bit but the ball flight these produce is really great. My buddy knows that I struggle with my trajectory and he was commenting on how the ball came out exploding low and then reach the apex and kept going. I was in love with this ball flight and something that I really have not been able to produce before. Every single green I hit from the pitching wedge to the 4 iron hit and stuck/spun back. I know that I generate a lot of spin being a steep angle of attack player but I was really impressed that even the long irons held well. A low piercing ball flight with a soft landing has been something I have really been looking for and I think I finally found it.

[b]Carry/Dispersion: [/b]The carry on these irons was also a treat. I used the first 18 as a glorified driving range to figure these things out and feel out my yardages with each club. I was pleased to find that I was consistent in distance compared to my AP2's and even had a little extra distance with the long irons. I have never been very fond of hybrids and love hitting long irons so this was a great thing. I think the biggest takeaway from the day was the dispersion of these irons. Not going to lie, with the AP2's, when I missed, it was usually a bad miss. I found out pretty quick that even on mishits, the ball just continued on its intended line. I could've just been having a good swing day but I rarely missed my target, if anything it was a distance issue. I got on a run the second 18 where I started feeling real confident and stuck 6 or 7 in a row inside of 15 feet (if only I could've rolled in a few more putts).

[b]Workability: [/b]Another A+ area for the Pro's. I played a course that is fairly tight with a lot of doglegs. You really have to be able to move the ball both ways if you want to score on this course. Many holes are completely tree lined and there are a few holes with trees in the midde of the fairway that require you to work the ball one way or the other. I have always struggled hitting a consistent cut with irons and I felt like I could put a pretty good cut spin on the ball when I wanted to. I knew with blades that the workability would increase and I was really able to "feel" the ball off of the clubface and immediately knew if I hit the intended shot. These irons seemed to have a natural draw bias and eventually felt really confident when the shot I was playing called for a draw. I expect this area will improve as I get used to the irons and most importantly improve my swing.

Conclusion:

I am not going to lie, I was a bit apprehensive of going to a true blade because I am not getting to play as consistently these days and had never gamed them before. After reading some reviews from you guys I decided to pull the trigger and although this is being written after 36 holes, I am encouraged by my decision. I felt like the forgiveness in these irons was generous for a blade (don't get me wrong, when you mishit one you will know it) but I rarely lost distance and as I mentioned earlier, the ball stayed on its intended line. On the second 18, I was able to put together a 76 which is a really good round for me, especially with new irons. The performance is there and the ball flight is really something. I can't wait to get back out there and hit them again. If you are like me and find yourself torn between a forged moderate GI iron and a blade, I really don't think you can go wrong with the Pro's. I entertained the idea of getting the combo set with pro short irons but I am not a big fan of mixing sets and I think I will be just fine with the Pro's. No gimmicks with these irons, what you see is what you get and the performance is great. Kudos to Nike for this offering, you've won a customer. Can't wait to see what the Vapor woods have in store.

Is anyone considering a 2 iron in the VPC? I'm debating getting rid of my Adams DHY driving iron in favor of the 2 iron. I never liked hybrids and the DHY was the closest to a 2 iron I could find

I want one. Just because. I love my 5 wood, but a Vapor Pro Combo is calling my name.

Or, a Vapor Speed 3 iron. As the loft is already 19*.
