Taylormade 300 Driver .... anyone still gaming one?

I have a TM 300 series 8.5 degree tour driver that was tremendous back in the day. I'm toyin with the notion of getting a low spin mid launch shaft and trying this one out again. Is there anyone who had installed a current model shaft gaming this series driver today? If so, what are the results? Thanks in advance.

Driver:  TaylorMade 300 Mini 11.5° (10.2°), Fujikura Ventus Blue 5S Velocore

3W:  TaylorMade M4 15°, Graphite Design Tour AD DI 7S

Hybrid:  TaylorMade Sim2 2 Iron Hybrid 17°, Mitsubishi Tensai AV Raw Blue 80 stiff

Irons:  Mizuno Pro 223 4-PW, Nippon Modus3 Tour 120 stiff

GW / SW: Mizuno T-22, 52° (bent to 50°)/ 56° (bent to 54°), True Temper S400

LW:  Scratch Golf 1018 forged 58° DS, Nippon Modus3 Tour 120 stiff

Putter:  Byron Morgan Epic Day custom, Salty MidPlus cork grip

Grips:  BestGrips Augusta Microperf leather slip on

I may or may not know someone that still occasionally uses a 9.5* 300 tour with Iverx that works exceedingly well. :)

The UST VTS silver 7 and Aldila original VS proto 70 in appropriate flex also work well in head you referenced.

Personally found that mid/mid shafts seem to work better with this older head due to changes in spin of golf ball compared to the heyday of that driver.

I remember someone buying a 300 Tour head for $1400 on ebay and proclaiming that it was a bargain. Wow those were the days.

I love the 300 Tour. One of my all time favorites. I also played the R300 Tour non conforming which was the longest driver I ever played. .860 COR rocks. :D

I have a 300 tour head out in the garage that I keep meaning to put a shaft in. I can remember how pure that driver felt.

I still have my 300 Tour, shafted with the then hot shaft-Prolite 35. I remember having paid close to $400 just for the head!

I wish I had the Tour version. I am gaming the 300ti still in 9.5* and it is killer. I have it shafted with an MFS Matrix shaft and it is the best wood I have ever played. Was going to swap out the shaft with an extra black tie I have laying around, but the zylon layer in the MFS is just too good a feeling to take the shaft out.

I have three of the 300 Tour heads. 8.0* with a Fujikura Fit On, 9.5* with a Diamana Whiteboard and 10.5* with a 757 Speeder.

Took the 9.5* out and tested it against my 430 SLDR with a Blueboard and the old gem still competed with the latest and "greatest". Not sure why i ever switched away from the old classic.

Considering putting an X100 into the 8.0* and pairing it with my Titleist 970 13* with an X100. Those two clubs combined with my Mizuno TN87 irons (2-PW) and Cleveland 588 Tour Action TZG wedges (56* and 60*) would make for a nice classic bag.

Does anyone know when the 300 tour was released? Was it 01 or 02? and was the entire 300 series (300, 320, 360) maxed out for COR/CT and "trampoline effect" off the face?
I do know that the 300 series was released only to touring pros to test them out in the summer of 2000 and were available for retail later that year...

300 tour! The driver that launched the tour issue craze! Which led to neon green shafts for $1500 and Tour set ups that actually reached over the $2000 mark. Thank God those days have calmed down.

Pretty sure I still have a 13 or 13.5 degree 200 tour as well as a 17 degree. I also have a 580 tour issue driver. Not sure why I hang on to this stuff.

This really brings back memories. I think I had the 360Ti with a Proforce 65. I hit the longest drives of my life with that setup.
I played the same setup - switched to R5, Cally RH Tour, Diablo Edge, RFX (multiple shafts) and ended up this summer pulling the 360Ti back out. Hit it better than any of the others!

Ahhh, the good ole days. Still have my 2-300 Tours and my 3-510 Tour DF's (one was actually VJ's at 7* open) and my 2-580 Tours. The sound all those drivers made, and their feel, is still unmatched, IMHO.

That's interesting, I didn't realize that these were known as the first mainstream driver with a max COR face

I have my R580XD TP, a V-steel tour issue, a Cleveland Launcher steel head, and a Cleveland Comp driver. Also have a retail 300 head. Don't use that. I've hit the other 4 this year multiple rounds.
