Hi guys, quick question. I can get a killer deal on the 745s but I won't be able to hit them first. I am currently playing 09 burners but down to 10 handicap. I hit the taylormade psi and liked them, any compare the 2? Also how forgiving are these? Should I just wait for the 765s? Any info would be great thanks

Ya I don't know where you find a particular comfort level in starting a set of irons (3,4,5,6...) but I play mine 5-PW and couldn't imagine needing more "forgiving" irons than these.

I know it's not as simple as saying if you shoot this, than that, but to make a generalization, I think anyone who plays bogey golf or better will have no trouble with them.

I agree. If you are a halfway decent ballstriker, you will be fine with the 745s. They are way more forgiving than they look.

 

I have occasionally seen players that are bogey-golfers only because they are deadly around the greens, but are terrible ballstrikers. Unless you fall into this category, you will not have a problem at all.

I found my 745s brand new with Tour Issued DG S400 shafts 4-PW for $500 on this forum. As pointed out previously, you can get 4-PW w/ KBS shafts for $450 new on TGW. There are deals to be had on the 745s. If you can get a new set with the shaft you want for $500 or less, I'd say that's worth the savings over what the newer 765s would bring in terms of value.

I wouldn't think a 12 would have any issues. Could play it safe and just go straight 545, but I honestly believe the 745s are some of the friendliest, best feeling players CBs out there.

Depends on your strike, but play I them just fine of 30. When i fail, no amount of GI would help me :), but normally I strike them well. I do not hit the center every time, and can still trust the irons.

 

My set is split at 6i as 745, 4+5 as 545.

Yea. TGW is where they are having the sale. As well. 399. Not a steal not a bad price. I am currently with out a set cause my honess fire sold everything. I have always found these irons to look amazing and the reviews from cross ideals and shields are positive. I'm not a pure ball hitter most of the time but I can play. It's just about pulling the trigger and if they don't work then being able to recoup my $

As a former iron HO, I can totally understand where you're coming from. I bought mine a while back and paid considerably more for a lightly used set not knowing if I would keep them. I will say that although I have tried a few other irons in between here and there, I have ZERO interest in replacing the Z745s... If I weren't ho'ing other clubs, I would grab another set as backups, that's how much I love these. Obviously everyone is different, but at a 12, I have a feeling you will be impressed with the feel and performance of these sticks, too.
