I understand the excitement for Tiger and all, but Wyndham is usually a weak field event nobody cares, just look at the past years threads on WRX:

2014 winner Villegas, 3 pages http://www.golfwrx.com/forums/topic/1065633-2014-wyndham-championshipaugust-11th-17th/

2013 winner Reed, 2 pages http://www.golfwrx.com/forums/topic/894398-2013-wyndham-championship-spoilers/page__st__30

2012 winner Garcia, 3 pages http://www.golfwrx.com/forums/topic/712450-wyndham-championship-finals-week-frenzy/page__st__60

Spieth vs. Reed in 2013 playoff. Very weak.

The reason I am excited is that it may be a "weak" field, but IMO before Tiger gets back to winning majors, he needs to win SOMETHING. Anything. He needs to get 72 holes in without the wheels falling off of the bus, and WIN. This could be an important step. "Weak" field or not, it is still a PGA event, and one has to play well for 4 days to win it.

FORE RIGHT!!!!

So what makes golf compelling to fans?

1. Majors

2. the up and comers, i.e. The Young Guns,
and...

3. The redemption stories: Could Ben Hogan come back from a terrible car accident?
Could Jack ever win again after a slump and his 40th birthday?
Is Tiger done? Or will he not only win again, but win majors?

My god, man? What do you want?

It was definitely unexpected to see a solid performance again today. Everyone in Golfsmith stopped in their tracks and all had that "WTH" look? As soon as he dropped the eagle putt, the store erupted. We thought that this really can't be happening. "Who is this guy? He reminds me of Tiger Woods!"

Many of you are still predicting (aka wishing and hoping for) doom and gloom. You're already positioning yourself saying it was a soft course and a weak field. I'll let Luke Donald, Brandt Snedeker and Ernie Els know that they're no longer relevant to GolfWRX and John Feinstein. And while he still has the chance to collapse on himself and shoot 75, but for the first two days he was Tiger Woods, and it was good to see. Swinging in himself, staying tall, and even seeing STINGERS and the Twirl of Doom. Yup, it was good to see, and my 11 year old boy's grin was from ear to ear that Tiger finally showed up. Maybe just for 36 holes. But maybe, just maybe, the process is working. I still doubt Chris Como, but I don't get a vote.

Don't forget about Adam Scott and Martin Kaymer.

Weak field or not....who really cares. Tiger playing well is good for the game of golf, ratings, the city of Greensboro, etc. What if he wins? People will say ahhh weak field crap, but regardless it's good for Tigers game and golf in general.

Lover or hater, who doesn't want to see him in the mix week after week with Rory, Jordan, Jason, DJ, etc?? I sure as hell do.

All of the TW haters, look at what this has made you do....come online and post 14 pages and watch a tourney that you probably wouldn't have watched. Hate all you want, what he does for the sport that we all love is unreal.

I mean on Thursday my Saturday plan was to go out on the water and fish a little bit. Now I am in the car driving 3 hours to go to the tournament just because he's making a run. Win or not, I'm happy he's playing well so far this week.

"Weak field"? When you are currently ranked 286th in the world (like Tiger) the entire weak field argument is pointless. Matsuyama and Koepka are currently 16th and 17th which seems strong to me. Adam Scott-12th. Kaymer-21st. Are all tournaments without Rory and Jordan going to be argued as weak from now on?

Weak field, duh. But it is a great chance to inch closer to the PGA Tour all-time wins record. Which IMO is huge. People forget about Snead's 82 and Tiger Woods's pursuit of it, but if and when he does get close to tying or beating it, it will be a big hype. You can say "golf is in good hands" a million times, but we are talking about a guy challenging the all-time wins record. That will completely overshadow whatever it is Jordan and Jason and Rory might be doing at the time. And it is hard to imagine anyone of this current generation (as awesome as they are) ever getting anywhere near Snead's and Woods' huge PGA TOUR win totals.

Glad to see Tiger is playing well again today.

The only haters on this thread are the ones who are writing like three year olds about other posters. Can you please act like adults?

I've just perused a few of these threads and it's beyond sad. It makes tour talk unreadable.

That "another tiger thread", thread and my God, pathetic..

If you really want to get in to it with OWGR strength-of-field, Wyndham ranks as 12th lowest on the season...

Barbasol - 12
Barracuda - 19
Puerto Rico - 19
Sanderson Farms - 40
OHL Classic - 68
John Deere - 136
McGladrey - 162
FedEx St. Jude - 172
Quicken Loans - 173
Frys.com - 191
Shriners - 195
Wyndham - 218
Canadian - 219
Greenbrier - 225
Zurich - 225

Never seen so many comments about strength-of-field for one tournament. Everywhere on the internets, all people are caring about this week is the strength of the field. So f****** weird.

I would say weaker field but some of this field has potential to get back their rankings. Lot of good players trying to get back toward the top 10. Tiger or anyone wins, it is not against a weak field.

It is an underrated field in my opinion, this isn't the Barracuda, there are some guys in it that are highly ranked and of course like others have said you have a lot of motivated golfers because this is their last shot to get into the playoffs.

These are the best two rounds seen for eon's, on a course HE'S NEVER PLAYED. This will be a huge win if he can do it.

Still get the feeling I get when I give my missus my car keys to mine when he picks up driver though.

Yeah but it's ONLY 7100 yds. LOLZ

about 5 people posting on this site can break 80 on a 7100 course setup for PGA tour conditions and many are mocking Tiger shooting 64.

you guys are a hoot, really.

If Tiger wins it will be the weakest field he has ever played against but that one darn good field. I think he is telling the truth about himself still not there which should make next year very interesting. For real, not like the Cubs.

I'm headed up tomorrow to watch, should be a fun one.

Weak field? Good lord you people never cease to amaze me. It's the PGA Tour, there is no weak field... The beauty of the Tour is that anyone can pull it off because they ALL can go low. Yeah the leaderboard might not look like a WGC event but spare me the Bologna
