I dont think the weak field matters. The point is to get reps, build confidence (clearly much of his struggles has been psychological), and make the playoffs so that he can play more rounds. He has been injured and on and off for too long. He needs competitive rounds. We shall see if he can do it.

I must confess, I wasn't following the score too hard today for fear of witnessing another Tiger meltdown.

Glad to hear he had another good round. More importantly, it sounds like he is swinging with confidence again.

Spieth gets an awful lot of credit for his two weak field event wins. Hmmm.

Yeah the John Deere doesn't exactly bring in the big names, and we cheered just the same.

Nice to see TW back to being TW. I won't make a prediction on the outcome (I've been wrong too many times lately) but I bet TW makes a run at it.

All this talk about "playoffs" is kind of ridiculous though. Does TW even care? I'm sure he'd much rather win a major than win the "playoffs". If anything, I'm slightly worried that TW might injure himself if he pushes to play week after week in these "playoffs" without regard to his health / recovery.

Anyway, hope to see TW in the winners circle Sunday.

I kind of think the opposite. At this point he is healthy and needs to play more. I think he realized that if he didn't make the playoff he may only play two more times until next year. He needs reps and he's not going to get them if he doesn't make the playoffs.

It was definitely unexpected to see a solid performance again today. Everyone in Golfsmith stopped in their tracks and all had that "WTH" look? As soon as he dropped the eagle putt, the store erupted. We thought that this really can't be happening. "Who is this guy? He reminds me of Tiger Woods!"

Many of you are still predicting (aka wishing and hoping for) doom and gloom. You're already positioning yourself saying it was a soft course and a weak field. I'll let Luke Donald, Brandt Snedeker and Ernie Els know that they're no longer relevant to GolfWRX and John Feinstein. And while he still has the chance to collapse on himself and shoot 75, but for the first two days he was Tiger Woods, and it was good to see. Swinging in himself, staying tall, and even seeing STINGERS and the Twirl of Doom. Yup, it was good to see, and my 11 year old boy's grin was from ear to ear that Tiger finally showed up. Maybe just for 36 holes. But maybe, just maybe, the process is working. I still doubt Chris Como, but I don't get a vote.

there's no such thing as a weak field in a PGA event. Christ. You guys act like you could jump in there and break 90 on this course. You couldn't. None of you. Not one of you posting in this thread could break 90 in this event. So stop the nonesense.

And I hope tiger breaks his leg tomorrow.

It's a weak field but it doesn't matter. This isn't a typical weak field. You have people fighting tooth and nail to get into the playoffs a and secure their card for next year. It's a very tough tournament.
[/quote]

I wouldn't call it a weak field. Especially if 4 former #1s are in the field this week.

I thought this was a pretty awesome field actually! According to OWGR it's stacked.

Maybe the best ever for the Wyndham considering it's Tiger's first time playing in it.

Some of the better players like Branden Grace and Hideki Matsuyama had rare bad weeks but that doesn't take away from field strength.

Who the heck is this?!

Almost looks like Tiger Woods.

Just a couple of people following him.

Something new with the putting? Looks connected more.

It's almost as if Tiger finally grew up and realized he should swing the club and putter like he did when he literally was picked to win against the field every time he played.

Don't get offended as I have no idea who you are. You handicap is 3.8, and unless that is a misprint and you are in fact a +3.8 I'd be willing to bet against you. Especially if it was during the actual tournament.

These are the best two rounds seen for eon's, on a course HE'S NEVER PLAYED. This will be a huge win if he can do it.

Still get the feeling I get when I give my missus my car keys to mine when he picks up driver though.

I understand the excitement for Tiger and all, but Wyndham is usually a weak field event nobody cares, just look at the past years threads on WRX:

He's hugely helped to make the game what it is today, and he's seemingly still more than capable if driving it forward in the future.

Seeing Tiger have a few 'successes', and what that brings with it - can only be good for any fan or golfer at any level.
