How my PXG's were built wrong and poor!!!! PXG gave me no help!

.370 hosel my Modus were NOT shimmed and I did not use collared ferrules. I also asked for +1 wrap and they did not have them!! Called PXG spoke to Marcus and he was not helpful at all. I paid a stupid amount for these clubs and would expect these to be built right and proper. The business model is "flawed" IMO as the quailty of the build is up to the fitter and NOT the company..

I was considering PXGs for my next set. Prepared to pony up the cost and even having a whole set fitted. Love the company background and especially the naming of the models after USMC MOSs. Have a soft spot for jarheads as they were the guys that gave me the tag I use as a username. I would really love to hear how this Marine makes it right for you. It will make or break my decision to use his clubs. Thank you for the post, sir.

I posted the voice mail message out of jest, but accordingly this probably is NOT the proper venue for your complaint.

The PXG model does in fact count on quality clubfitters to fit you and build your clubs. Other high end manufacturers, like Miura, work on the same model. Ultimately, it sounds like your complaint is with the clubfitter and not PXG. Have you taken it up with them?

I would probably see another PXG authorized retail location in your area and have them evaluate the work and report back to PXG. It is not uncommon for a company using this model to close a retailer for poor quality control and open new retailers who qualify to sell the merchandise more rapidly than manufacturers who only count on the retailer as a point of sale.

Good luck and sorry for the unfortunate build.

Just out of curiosity.....why'd they use a .370 hosel????? With no shim......they had to use a sh!tload of epoxy and even then, they must have set-up all over the place.

I do too. I know about the expectation that something so touted is not built correctly. It happens, unfortunately. But in all fairness, the builder should be the one making it right, IMO. Not PXG. Now if the builder were UNWILLING, that would definitely be a PXG matter.

agreed ...would love to see some pics... really shocked they are 370 to be honest.... I thought these were supposed to be "best quality on earth" I know some irons are 370... but the best on earth are a tight taper....i.e miura or Kyoei... buy a new set of those and you will have to run a bore cleaning sanding drum in the hosels to get the shaft to seat... why? because they want a tight quality fit.... 370 in my opinion is what oems do when they want to save a buck on shafts...

PXG uses the same hosel size as ping which is bigger than .355. They use a ferrule with an sleeve to make it fit.

so its not 370..it is taper with a relief up top for a collered ferrule like callaway etc? that's a whole different animal... no problem there at all ... that's actually best of both worlds....

I don't understand the PXG hype either ¯\_(ツ)_/¯... nonetheless, PXG should have built it properly for you, it does however sound like the bottleneck is the fitter though, is it not?

Agree with you. The place that built the clubs should be the ones to make it right. Obviously the builder doesn't have a clue to not at least use a shimmy...but they shouldn't even have to do that, as pxg has their own special ferrule with an sleeve to make it fit. Where were these built?

OP, you chose the fitter and while PXG hopefully uses quality fitters, it is up to the consumer to check their references. Heck, I'm going to Mass to get a fitting as to PXG v. CF16 and to play golf with friends -- but I know the fitter and his work on irons is typically flawless. You've got to check them out. As to PXG, all you can expect them to do, and ask them to do, is to call the fitter, and ask them to make you happy by explaining their reasoning and modifying the clubs to your requested specs.

This. This is accurate. Titleist, Callaway, and many others use a bore like this. It's not .370.

Nothing against PXG, I'm sure that they are of high quality but when I had the chance to first see & hit them it wasn't my cup of tea. The irons seem awful clanky with a ton of offset, didn't really dig the screw system as I'd rather stick to old skool lead tape if I needed some weight. The woods & wedges I didn't even touch.

If I was forking out that much loot for a full set why not head to Callaway, TaylorMade, or Titleist? Story reminds me of Scratch sending me irons back in 05, at the first Cleveland Golf Tour event I had heads flying off & couldn't figure it out. Bring them on the Cleveland tour van & .355 Tour Concept shafts in parallel heads, never hit Scratch again!

I ordered my set with Modus 130 and had them pulled and installed the shafts I was fit in to. My club builder had no issue with the install.

My only issue with my order is why they don't offer EVERY SINGLE shaft option as an up charge. Club specs came spot on and ordered my grips loose and even after installing some new grips, the swing weights were exactly where I ordered them.

Saw a guy at my fitters last week having a meltdown

His whole bag was PXG. Even the putter, head covers and bag

Another fitter has made a mess of his build. He must have been $10k deep and was spending another $2k to switch from Accra to recoils, fix the lie angle and fix the swing weights etc with my builder

just get s55's, same thing without the screws
