Kirkland Signature (Costco) golf balls (MERGED) (NO BST POSTS)

I played them this morning and gave one to my playing partner to try out. I normally play chromesoft, so my comparison is to that.

  • Driver: Low driver spin compared to Chromesoft. The drives went much straighter, which accounts for the 5-10y additional yards I was averaging with the Kirkland ball.
  • Irons: I really like the ball off of the irons and around the green. Felt very similar to the Chromesoft and got similar distances and ball flight.
  • Wedges: Balls tended to check a bit harder than Chromesoft. Par 3's had the ball rolling back about 1.5x as far as Chromesoft.
  • Putting: Pretty much similar in feel.

Overall, I really like them and I think I have found a new ball. I will test it a few more rounds to make sure there is not a "new ball excitement" biasing my review.

My golf buddy normally plays a proV1x and his impression was that they felt "heavy" off the driver compared to his proV1x, not entirely sure what he meant by this. Seems to have liked it around the greens as well.

Just curious. Did you pick these up in store or order online? I'm in San Diego as well. I would love to get some in my hands for this weekend.

Also, are you comparing to 2016 or 2015 chrome soft?

I have been stalking this thread since day one waiting for these to show up on the costco site. Just ordered 2 boxes, for the money this could be the perfect fall/winter ball.

I ordered them online Tuesday and they were delivered to my house Thursday morning. I tried calling around yesterday, but no local stores that I checked with stocked them and they didn't even have the item number in their system.

This review was comparing a 2016 Chromesoft to the Kirkland Ball. I played the 2015's until I tried the 16's and like them much better.

Solid review indeed. I'm not sponsored and a $4 ball isn't on my utility curve for marginal golf benefit. Prior to seeing this review, I bought two sets...may go out and get a couple more today. Cost basis after tax is about $1.05 a ball!

Thanks. Nice to hear that they shipped so quickly. I ordered mine this morning so I'm guessing there's a good chance I get them by midweek.

Good to hear it compares well to the 2016 CS. I like that ball as well. The 2015 not so much (poor carry with woods, not enough short game spin).

Since they're shipping out of California, naturally you west coast guys are getting them much quicker than us easterners.

I ordered On Tuesday 10/4 and they won't get here until Wednesday 10/12...

dayum

I played yesterday and have two rounds scheduled between today and the 12th...

My luck, I'll get them and the wheels will fall off the weather.

Edited to add comparison ball was the 2016 Chromesoft.

Well damn, how did it come to this? Ordering 4 dozen Kirkland Golf Balls, what has the world come to?

I know what it has come to. I am tired of paying 4+ dollars for a ball that costs less than a dollar to make. Who knows, they may dethrone the Snell that I am playing currently.

I bet the balls cost less than $0.50 to make. But, they do need to pay for all the R&D.

That was quick as I just got mine. They smell like pure gasoline and feel like your normal urethane ball off the putter. Can't wait to put one in play this weekend.

My son showed me Costco now is in the golf business offering a 4 layer urathane cover golf balls. What interest's me about this was I watched a documentary about Costco and they run all products they sell with their name on through very extensive testing. At $15 a dozen it might be fun to try them out!

Probably out here in Canada they'll be releasing the Kirkland brand hockey puck, dog sled and igloo building kits soon.

Boy, a Google search turns up nothing about these balls except for the thread here on WRX.

Hope there is a yellow option. Probably not based on previous golf ball offerings from Costco.

Yes, I know. My post was from back in August.

In fact, just today I received a sales email from Costco with these balls highlighted. And no, they don't come in yellow (yet).

These are the real deal. At least 1 yard longer than my ProV and it bites so hard it chews up the green.

How did you determine the 1 yard distance gain?

In the Bag:

  • Titleist 690MB Forged Irons 3-PW
  • TaylorMade M3 Driver with TENSEI Blue Stiff Shaft
  • TaylorMade V-Steel 15° 3-Wood
  • Titleist Spin Milled 56° and 60° Wedges
  • Scotty Cameron Newport Mil-Spec Putter
