Kirkland Signature (Costco) golf balls (MERGED) (NO BST POSTS)

So what is the deal with 'Kirkland' anyway? What don't they just call it 'Costco' ?

The first store is in the city of Kirkland. Hence the name.

Not to pick nits but their HO was originally located in Kirkland (and has since moved to Issaquah). The first store opened at 4401 4th Ave S in Seattle - Kirkland is close by (maybe a 20 minute drive?)

It's not my website. They probably have the info on there tho in separate pages

I tried to search thru it today while at work. I couldn't find the same info you pulled up and didn't have the time to register. Is this a free site where we can access this info? Thanks !

Hm it seems to have disappeared. Good thing I grabbed it in time. Site has a lot of info on it tho, it was my first time being on it

Its back up with some more comparisons to the RZN and Srixon.

There is an interesting discussion occurring in the Golf Club Atlas discussion forum. The OP, in something of a Tom Robbins-esque manner, tangentially ties in and parallels the advent of the K-Sig with the much broader issue of the demise of the sport. Is it possible that the release of this ball represents a seminal moment in our dear sport's evolution?

Anyone who has a epiphany brought about by buying some cheap golf balls at Costco needs to have an fMRI. Next thing you know the voices in his head will be telling him to go do something dangerous.

Geez, now Costco is selling Great Big Bertha drivers and fairway woods. WHEN WILL IT STOP???

Callico ??? Cute name, don't you think.

They've sold Callaway gear for as long as I can remember. Couldn't work out a deal to continue carrying Callaway Hex Soft balls so they went and made their own.

I think it could lead to more major retailers to toss around the idea of a white labeled premium ball. WalMart could create a Great Value Urethane Ball to compete against the K-Sigs.

These balls are the real deal.

My K-Sigs came yesterday and I played 18 in league with them today. By way of comparison, I have been playing ProV1x's for a couple of years now, although I do play ProV's now and then too. I also gave a couple of balls to my two buddies, one who is a 10+ and the other a 4 hdcp.

My first impression was I could not tell the difference between it and the ProV1x. It felt very similar if not identical. My drives all day were not unlike my normal drives, and my fairway wood and long irons also played very similar. I noticed that my short irons checked up nicely with a 150+ yard shot only rolling 6" - 1'. This is pretty normal for me. My wedges did back up not unlike a ProV1, although I don't think they spun quite as much.

The ball looked unused after 18, and that includes me pounding one drive into a tree that was 200 or so from the tree. My buddy hit one drive off of a cement cart path that has anti-slip scoring lines in it and the ball did not scuff.

I'm a believer. I'm not sure I'll make the switch from Titleist as I get AAAA ProV's for basically the same price from golfballsdirect.com, but I'll use these two dozen and make a decision then.

Put my K-sig through its paces this morning and it compares favorably with other premium balls. It reminded me a lot of the Chrome Soft off the driver and irons, but with much more greenside spin and receptivity. For the $30 price Tag this is a no brainer. My usual TPx has the Ksig by probably 10 yards off the driver, but the Ksig really minimizes sidespin off the longer clubs.

And the durability is out of this world. I played with the same ball the entire round and although I hit a handful of trees, the thing looked darn near brand new when I finished.

Pros: greenside spin, minimal sidespin durability, short game feel

Cons: driver distance

So which manuf do you guys think will suffer most with Ksig's popularity?

ProV is untouchable imo. I think CS will lose alot of customers.

Snell and Vice.

They courted the people who didn't "need" to play a Prov1/name brand ball - with promises of same quality+ lower price as their disruptive innovation to the ball market. But KSig (if the reviews are true) has the ability to do the exact same thing to Snell and Vice. Also - I assume the Costco balls also come with the "money back if not satisfied" guarantee. So there's even less risk to try them. :(

I hope I'm wrong. I love and support and root for small businesses.

Honestly I don't think that any will suffer. Most People won't touch this ball since a) most people don't know that there's a Kirkland ball b) most people won't know what a urethane ball is and c) it's not going to be sold everywhere - online specifically on Costco.com and at Costco warehouses. Not enough exposure to the masses.

Edit: smell and vice balls have advertising on social media and large ads in publications like golf digest.

I agree, not enough marketing for the ball, and even less Costco members! Snell, Vice and other manufacturer are perfectly safe!

Put them in play yesterday. They seemed to check up good on chip shots. My driving was off, I don't think it was the ball. It's hard to compare to a week ago, regarding spin on iron shots, since it rained a bunch for a couple of days before this round. Distance on my good shots were normal distance and shot shape.
