Kirkland Signature (Costco) golf balls (MERGED) (NO BST POSTS)

Recommended Posts

ordered this morning, already label printed. nice.

I smell strong demand for this ball. Costco won't raise price easily.. right? :stop:

I think Costco has a policy of not marking stuff up more than 15% above their cost, so if they do raise the price, it likely won't be by much unless the manufacturer jacks the price up.

I might be able to get on the flightscope and a hitting net in a week or 2 to compare it to some other brands(TPX,B330,Tour Platinum,Chromesoft16)

Those are some of my favorite balls so I'll be looking forward to it!

All I have to do is set up a net for it so hopefully when Im free one weekend before the end of the month. Cheers

These Kirkland balls are pretty close to what I consider cheap. I kinda wanna start using them, but I'm wondering- Do multilayer urethane balls really do that much to exaggerate slices and hooks on driver/wood shots more than 2 layer balls??

Am I going to lose more balls if I start playing these instead of your average cheap 2 core ball of the same price? Or does my lack of skill determine how many balls I lose regardless of the type of ball? Lol

Short answer is "no". The difference in driver spin between balls is relatively slim, according to Golf Digest charts. Anecdotally, I've waved goodbye to plenty of two-piece, "straight" balls from the tee box. I've probably lost less since switching to urethane balls. I think that is down to the urethane balls not carrying as far on miss-hits as do two and three piece surlyn balls. That means they don't travel as far into the woods, or into the water, or o.b., etc... Short game spin is where urethane balls and the average surlyn ball show their biggest difference. That and price.

So for all the guys on this forum that are into brand matching you can have a Kirkland shirt, socks, underwear, and ball.

Shirt, underwear and shorts I got. Never saw K/S low cuts. Would buy them though!

A couple of years ago I was in Costco with one of my sons who was in law school at the time. As we were hitting up the samples he noticed that almost everything he had on was from Costco. Hat, shirt, pants, jacket, socks. Only the shoes were from somewhere else. He was like a poster boy for them. His wife wouldn't walk next to him because she didn't like to see his clothes on the tables and other shoppers. Pretty funny.

Yeah I wish they had done a better job on the box to tell the average golfer that this ball is a tour-level ball that normally costs $90 for two dozen. Average guy doesn't know what urethane is

We were joking about this at work. It's like your playing a ball with a 80s sitcom logo on it. But I could care less. Funny thing too is the number on the ball in TINY. Like you may need reading glasses to see it. But it won't matter when someone yell what are you playing "Kirkland Signatures"

Yeah personally I dont care. I just want them to sell really well for Costco so they keep making them, and I'm saying they could've done a better job explaining how great this price is for this ball to the average guy

$30/2dozen? I bet the price will go up to $35 in no time. This is a nice deal. Volvik makes a really nice ball. Also remember, Acushnet is owned by a Korean company so maybe they're making a ball similar to prov in Korea??!!?. that'd be a killer.

This guy knows Costmo.....They have a typical pattern where they introduce new stuff cheap and when everyones on board the prices slowly creep up after they own ya!! Like their mixed nuts were $9.99 now about $17 and pack of white towels were $11 now $19...ya I still buy em...bastardos!

Can't figure how to like my own posts

Just got home from golfing, and my box of balls were sitting on my porch. The balls look good, and just chipping them around in the house with a pro v1 next to it, they feel pretty similar off the club. I obviously won't be able to tell how they play from just chipping around, but they feel good. Although I COULD"NT (not could) care less about the logo, it doesn't seem as large and obnoxious as I thought it would be.

I buy the Kirkland brushed cotton pants. They're perfect for golf. I tried out one pair, then went back and bought 2 more colours. They look very similar to jeans but more comfortable, and they will pass on a course with a no jean policy. Can't go wrong for approx $20-30/pair

Anyone inspect the balls and notice that it may be a 2 piece cover? Remember in the early versions of the pro v1 that had the seam, everyone starting lining up the seam down the target line? I remember reading a test to see if that did anything, and indeed the ball went almost 10 yards further if my memory serves me correctly.

I played them this morning and gave one to my playing partner to try out. I normally play 2016 Chromesoft, so my comparison is to that.

  • Driver: Low driver spin compared to Chromesoft. The drives went much straighter, which accounts for the 5-10y additional yards I was averaging with the Kirkland ball.
  • Irons: I really like the ball off of the irons and around the green. Felt very similar to the Chromesoft and got similar distances and ball flight.
  • Wedges: Balls tended to check a bit harder than Chromesoft. Par 3's had the ball rolling back about 1.5x as far as Chromesoft.
  • Putting: Pretty much similar in feel.

Overall, I really like them and I think I have found a new ball. I will test it a few more rounds to make sure there is not a "new ball excitement" biasing my review.

My golf buddy normally plays a proV1x and his impression was that they felt "heavy" off the driver compared to his proV1x, not entirely sure what he meant by this. Seems to have liked it around the greens as well.

Edited to add comparison ball was the 2016 Chromesoft.
