Kirkland Signature (Costco) golf balls (MERGED) (NO BST POSTS)

Just saw on another message board that Costco has found another manufacturer for golf balls who will be able to keep up with demand, so they will be removing the purchase limit and offering 3, 4 & 5 layer models to their members

So maybe its the same facility who makes the Maxfli line up?

Cobra F7+ - Stiff
Callaway V-Series 3 & 5 wood with Aldila Rouge Silver
Srixon 585 5-AW - Modus 105 Stiff
Ping Glide 2.0 Stealth 53 & 58 Degree
EVNROLL ER5
Srixon XV - Yellow

That sounds good, but hopefully the product performs the same as the current iteration.

Guy claimed to meet a Costco executive who told him they had a new manufacturer

While interesting, conforming list doesn't have a 5pc ball. But it's also only the list from 8/1 thru 9/4

Very true. They do currently have a 4 piece K-Sig listed that's 338 dimples. Original K-Sig 360 dimples. As well as another 3 piece (338 dimples) with with a different side stamp than the current K-Trey. Something to pay attention to.

Yeah. I think it’s been on there for a while. I wonder when they got the new manufacturer.

Yes, if accurate, the post makes it seem as though the new golf balls are already packaged so maybe they are just waiting for approval to release them. Assuming any of this is true, but given how this thread started out, with a guy meeting a Costco rep it seems reasonable.

Holy 5 piece of Christ.

I swear, if Costco gave even a little sh*t about a tour presence, they could put a serious, gaping wound in the prov line.

Then the cost would double, who would want that?

K3 are still available today.

:golfer:

Got 4 dozen and played K3 next to AVX last week on my home track so I could get a good feel for distance. The K3 is long off tee as advertised and feels/sounds Callaway Supersof-tish to me. It also putted very well and I didnt have any issues with feel on the greens at all. The area I did notice a difference was chipping within 40 yds from pin...I was coming up short due to the spin I figured. I can game it but I had to switch balls back to AVX to prevent losing strokes in the short game.

For the money...seems to be a great ball but if I could get both at same price it would be AVX in yellow. I will say this though...Prefer the K3 over original Ksig any day. I had 4 dozen of them that did not fit my game, the K3's will be in my rotation.

If true, looking forward to the obligatory spy article with help from the industry veteran and other "sources" in an coordinated assault on these new balls. #FunTimes

No they were FOR the original, AGAINST the K3 so now it’s time to be FOR the next version. They strictly alternate their pronouncements.

Only 2 Kirklands on the 9-5-18 conforming ball list (http://www.usga.org/.../gball_list.pdf) and the original K-Sig is not one of them. #RIPTourPerformance

So does that mean they are no longer confirming??????

No. They are still conforming. The exception being played in an event that uses the USGA Conforming ball list. Dean Snell explained this recently.

http://www.golfwrx.com/forums/topic/1662226-golf-balls-leaving-the-usga-conforming-list/page__p__17727234#entry17727234

A golf ball is submitted and gets put on the list... once on the list, this ball can be used in any tournaments the require the ball to be on the conforming ball list... this is most of the USGA type tournaments you are asking about.. a ball does not have to be on a list to play regular golf, local tournament golf etc.... however, we are required to submit and pay each year to KEEP the ball on the list.. if we do not, it will disappear from the list and NOT be eligible to be used on these USGA type events.. they are not listings that last forever.. we have to submit every year, they are re tested every year, and if pass, stay on the list... again, if someone chooses to not re submit, this ball would not longer be legal to use in these specific USGA type events that require the conforming ball list.. hope this helps clarify..

So they are no longer conforming - assuming Its a usga type tournament, this if your local tournament is following usga guidelines, the ksig is no longer conforming? I could see some potential issues for some higher level amateur tournaments. I mean none that I would be invited or even consider playing in...but could still be an issue?

Edit: just read the other thread and I believe the “condition of competition” is basically what I was referring to without knowing the terms.

If a tournament/event uses the USGA Conforming ball list as a COC then the original 4 piece K-Sig starting 9/5/2018 could not be played. All well as hundreds of other golf balls.

If a tournament/event does not use the USGA Conforming ball list as a COC then the OG 4 piece K-Sig along with hundreds of other golf balls are okay for use in competition.

Any chance Costco "forgot" to pay the $600-$800 needed to keep it on the list ?!?

If that's the case, it'll indicate that the 4 piece is not returning to the warehouse. Better hold on to what you had stashed away. A piece of golf ball history on the first break through on the price line guarded by all the OEM name brands for such a long time.

They don't just pay a fee, they have to resubmit the ball for testing again periodically.

Maybe they couldn't find one to submit and didn't want to pay eBay prices...

If that is the case, maybe some one here that had a closet full of them can send them one for the retesting! ;)

We could always crowdsource it. Get a few guys to send in their one of their stash of K-Sig balls and a bunch of other people to each contribute 10 bucks toward the testing fee. USGA gets a package in the mail saying "If Costco is too cheap to re-certify these then please allow us!!!!".
