Anyone still playing Adams irons?

Oven baked.

They don't look as good anymore after a season of use

These are going no where.

Impressive looking Mb2 head Putter, would love to see some more pics of these. Oil quenched??

That's too bad, but better to hit them than make wall hangers out of them.

Impressive that your Wife let u bake the MB2's in the oven, now that's a keeper.

Speaking of old(er) Adams' irons, as I posted here been playing the a4 forged for really long time. I finally looked them up in the groove rule database and it says "ATR" for "additional testing required". UGH!

Has anyone had the a4 Idea Tech Forged (the simplest model, slight cavity back) tested ? What were the results? How hard / expensive is it to get a set tested? If they are non-conforming I'll probably die a little inside.

Thanks in advance,

They still dont look bad, the vibrance of the colors has dulled a but and the sole and face are worn to just a raw steel, but they still look great for the use they see.

Your smarter than the average bear Putterman. lol

I bought a set of the satin ones, price was a factor. [cheap] lol Prefer the raw ones. Wonder if one could remove the factory finish off the satin ones?

I still have a set of the CMB's. I love the heads but they have Matrix Program shafts, which I don't like. I bought them up thinking they would be great for my carry bag. I've be going back and forth about reshafting or selling them.

After reading thru this thread I decided to test my XTD Forged 7 irons (yes.. I have two sets.. one with C-Taper Lite 110s and one with UST TourSPX Recoil Prototype 95 F5 shafts) to the sim today... just like I remembered that feeling.. so smooth and crisp.. I also took my new Mizuno MP-18 SC 7 iron with DG AMT S300 with me, which felt equally as nice.. but I might just have to put one of my XTD Forged sets back into play and sell off the MP-18 irons. I think Adams hit a grand slam with the XTD Forged irons..!

They really did knock these irons out of the park. Just wish TMAG would remake them. Gosh I can't wait to get mine reshafted and test them out.

been playing cb2's with kbs tour 90 reg shafts. Small head, forgiving, eye pleasing with dark color.Just got a set of cb3's with smoke kbs tour reg shafts.... they look fantastic. Will post pics when I get a chance...

Almost all black with my irons and putter. Picked up a odyssey #9 protype putter with black shaft and black MILLED head. Feel is really good... 1st milled putter I've had.

Not changing my username but
had a hole in 1!

I play CB3's. Love them. After improving my swing some, I noticed my ball flight with the stock KBS Tour 90's was ballooning. So I went online in search of KBS TOUR V's and reshafted them. It's early yet, but the V's are a lower trajectory and seem more consistent.

I'd like to know if anyone has found something they like better than the CB1/2/3's and moved on. Not sure what I'll play next after these are worn out.

I am sure plenty of us have moved on from CB1/2/3's, but if it is any consolation or indication, I still have my sets of CB2's and CB3's (while I have gotten rid of tons of other sets). I never played the CB2's or CB3's for any extended period of time, but whenever I put them in the bag, I really enjoyed playing them. The KBS Tour 90 stiff shafts worked reasonably well for me, the heads felt great (nice forged feel), they always had nice turf interaction, and they always performed well. I just felt I was leaving a little on the table, mostly in terms of wanting a bit more forgiveness (although they are reasonably forgiving).

Personally, I have in my bag (though of course not playing, due to the frickin' snow and subzero temps...) the Cobra Forged Tec irons, which work great for me. Maybe its the heads; maybe it's the C-Taper Lite shafts; but I prefer them to the Adams CB irons. Definitely close though, and YMMV. If not the Forged Tec, I'd probably be playing my Ping G irons, which simply offer much more forgiveness than the Adams CB irons. But that should not come as a shock to anyone--totally different animals.

Bottom line though, the Adams CB1/2/3 are classic irons IMO, and can easily hold their own with more current irons.

Been playing CB1 since it first came out, great iron. Messing around with XTD forge with regular graphite shaft last six months. Great head but the shaft too light and not stiff enough for me. Going back to CB1 for a few rounds and just fitted to the new Srixon Z765. I might finally have to move on.

Thinking of picking up a set of black CB 2 with KBS 90's. How forgiving are these? Still game an old set of Ping G5's. The set I'm looking at is still vary good, maybe 7/8 out of 10.

CB2’s are forgiving, but they are a different beast than any Ping G iron, or similar GI irons like Steelhead XR, JPX EZ, Mizuno Hot Metal, etc. The CB2’s are smaller and are a bit more challenging to hit. But they are still forgiving. Below are some photos comparing 7 irons—CB2, my current #1 Forged Tec, and a G25.

As you can see, the G25 is noticeably bigger, and is definitely more forgiving. The Forged Tec and CB2 are actually very similar, now that I look at them together. The CB2 has a thinner top line. I do hit the Forged Tec better than I did the CB2 or CB3. Pretty close though.
