Couldn’t help myself and just ordered a jailbird mini slant neck.... hopefully i love it so I’m not tempted to try the 2 ball slant too.

I’m torn between the jailbird s or a 7s. Anyone have new input?

 

To me, it comes down to whether you like more rounded edges (JB mini) or squared off lines (7s). I have the 7s and have never putted better in my life. I could easily see myself liking the JB mini though.

Question for those who have bought the 7s black....Online retailers have the putter with a black shaft but odyssey and callaway have it as a 30.00 dollar upcharge. Has anyone ordered this putter online and it came with a black shaft? Or do they have to be custom ordered? Thanks

Black shaft is stock on the 7s. No upcharge is applied when you add it on their sites.

To respond the question about counterbalanced grips, I believe they all come standard with some form of Superstroke counterbalanced grip. Most have the Pistol GT Tour but you can easily find models with the popular Slim 3.0 and other Superstroke grips.

 

I’ve only putted a few rounds and some practice sessions with my #7 but I love the feel of the O-Works insert. Feels like butter when you roll it good!

The Marxman S is the putter for me for 2018. Was planning to do a Garage Atlanta, but their delay in putting that up in the Garage gave me the opportunity to fall in love with the Marxman. I hate saying it’s “point and shoot”, but well....it is.

 

The only thing I’ve realized is it’s lighter in head weight so I have to swing it more to get the same distance. Maybe not a bad thing, as I get better distance control now.

I found the same thing. Reminds me of the backstykes back a few years ago. Light and almost tingy, maybe can put some lead tape under aight line to weigh it down a touch.

No, got a good deal on a Versa 2 instead. But the 1W may be better suited to my new claw grip and back and up stroke.

Left hand low grip might be even better. Can't cup the right wrist well so the right palm is off the grip in order to forward press.

Have been using a custom 2ball with a slant neck for a couple rounds now and my god this has to be the best putter I’ve ever used. The 2Ball alignment makes it so easy to visualize how the ball is going to roll, it is unreal.

Picked up a Black Jailbird Mini S and love it. The only gripe I have so far is it came with a headcover that is slightly smaller than the standard odyssey mallet cover and it doesn't stay on the club very well. Almost like the magnet cant quite reach the close because of how tight the cover is.

 

A side note, the black shaft and the superstroke grip are both upcharges from callaway. $30 for the black shaft and $20 for the superstroke grip. I believe the only exception to this might be the 7s but not positive.

Got the Marxman red with the black shaft a couple of weeks ago but the weather has been so aweful I haven't even played a round with it yet. Took it to practice green a couple of times and really like it so far. The toe hang does favor an arc stroke as my previous two ball is about 10 years old and has no toe hang. The alignment on this putter makes it very easy for me to visualize the line.

I have a red 1ws in my bag and love it. It looks incredible and is extremely well balanced. Ball rolls immediately with minimal skid. The face feels great but actually might be a little to soft. I’d like a bit more feedback on mishits.

Well after nearly four years my Odyssey Works 1w (original) is on the bench. In the league last two weeks I've had 7 putts lip out/finish cm's from the hole and then 6 putts finish short the next. It's always the person not the equipment but after holing everything the feel has gone.

 

I picked up O Works #2 black and spent 30 minutes putting from 4-6-10-18-24 feet and I was absolutely blown away. I think a combination of the weighted grip and insert launched the ball online, putts held their line for longer and I was confidently rolling them in from everywhere. I didn't feel I had to think too much about the putts. The feel off the face was incredible.

 

So I'm picking up tomorrow morning, my pros given me it for "used" price (used because I hit it today, it was brand spanking new) and I'll see how it goes in the medal.

 

Cannot wait.

Anyone else ditch the red Winn midsize grip? Tried to like it after a round but pulled it off. Found it really slippery when my hands started to sweat.

Just picked up a Odyssey O-Works Red #1 Wide S last night. Been shopping for one for months now.

 

If this rain ever stops will get out and do some outdoor testing.

I did. Gave it a try for one round and replaced it with a SS Mid 2.0 with 50g weight.

Blacked out the sight lines

Black heat shrink shaft

Matching superstroke;

Added 5g lead tape inside the weights on the sole
