How long have you played with your irons?

My next round will be my first with the z565. Played last year with the Apex CF16.

Had my CG16s for about 3 years now and have no intention of changing. These are modern jacked loft/long shaft irons, don't really see tech improving much. I see these in the bag for many years to come.

14 years in my I3+'s. About to upgrade to i200 fairly soon. The i3+'s have been good to me.

I've had my MP32s for 3 1/2 years now.

 

Before that I was swapping irons every few months looking for forgiveness.

 

I had a very brief experiment with a set of i20's early last year that didn't work out but other than that I've been faithful.

3 weeks... went from the TM RSi 1's to the TM PSi. Had the RSi's for 10 months, loved them but the shafts were causing me to hit sky balls and was over spinning them. Now I'm on the Project X 5.5 team an plan to keep these irons till the groves are worn out ;)

I played a set of Power Play (Hireko) Caiman X2 Raw Power irons from '11 to early '16, but I've been ho'ing around a bit for the past year. I started out really enjoying a set of Ping i15s but got drawn towards forged, had good luck with Mizuno MX-200s, and now think I've finally settled on '16 JPX EZ Forged for the long haul.

Played my Cleveland TA1s from age 17-29.

 

My man!!! I've been gaming gunmetal TA2's for the last 14 years. Literally have a set of MP-25's in the mail right now and will be super sad when those rusty beasts leave my bag.

3.5 years now. I'm very tempted by the new I200 irons though. And a set of I20s. And a set of I25s. Even a set of i3 blades has tempted me. Whatever it is, it'll be Ping for me!

I've tried dozens of irons but since 1996 my trusty Mizuno MP-29's (rifle shafts) always end up back in my bag. I know i'm giving up at least one club in distance but I don't care, I know where they go.

I always end back up with my 57s. I hit other irons better and further, but I know where my misses will end up directionally and distance.

At least 25 years. Not sure of exact date of purchase. Tour Model III 2i-SW stiff steel shafts (Ping knock offs). I had a teaching pro tell me that he had qualified for the US Open with the same set so I know I will never be as good as the clubs.

Callaway X-16 Pro Series...got them new. So, about 13 years or so. I've demoed plenty in the years since, but I haven't found anything better for me.

3 years on my Bstone J40 irons which are getting worn. There have been MANY club testing rounds in those years. Nothing has kicked out the Bstones yet.

One of these days (years, decades?) you'll find a set that you like. Then, you just have to tell yourself, over and over, that your set works best for you.

I can't imagine my 5-PW going anywhere anytime soon. It took me a while to get to the Mizuno's that fit me best. Hence my current MP-54/5/4 set-up.

I've been tempted to go back to blades, so many of the new thin face irons are all about distance, I need something that is a bit more spinning.

I've have my MacGregor PCB Tour irons since 2003, but I also quit playing for the most part for about 12 years. However I just bought a used set of AP2's because I wanted to try something a little more forgiving in the long irons
