Tiger Woods at the Masters? NBC golf analyst Brandel Chamblee wants to believe

"If you can believe what you read on social media, his coach has been down there with him in Palm Beach and he has been hitting lot of golf balls," Chamblee said Tuesday on a media conference call. "The way I understand it, he has been practicing quite diligently. It wouldn't surprise me if Tiger shows up at Augusta National."

All this hype so he can shoot 78 and WD after the first round.

I hope I'm wrong, because Tiger does create a certain buzz at The Masters when he's there and playing into the weekend, but I'm a realist.

If he does play I hope you are wrong about the WD. Two 78's would not surprise me but a WD would mean still not healthy. I know that there are some of you out there that disagree about the chicken and the egg. IMO the bad play followed by a WD has been because of poor health(back). Not the back hurts because he played bad.

Tiger is way too competitive to WD just because he didn't play well. I think it's a legit health reason when he does it

He'll be at Augusta, but he won't be playing. He just won't tell anyone until the last possible second. He and Steiny live for the speculation that he might, even though he is no where near ready to compete. If he was playing there would be sightings and stories of his famous "worst ball" crap. The hype machine is always on full tilt when there is no story.

He'll be at the Champions dinner and say he isn't absolutely sure and he will "try" to give it a go and pull out Wednesday night after all the pairings are made. He should do the honorable thing and admit this week that he can't play so the gentlemen at Augusta can make up the pairings without having to scramble or get the head pro to fill into keep the pairings even. But Tiger won't do that. The suspense the last minute WD will create more storylines and crappy hype for career that has seen it's best days already passed by.

Thanks for the insight, Golfstradamus.

Come on guys there is no chance he tees up. He can barely walk. He's had no golf practice let alone competitive rounds and he'd be competing against guys like DJ in top form. No chance.

He can barely walk? Go watch his putting contest against Strahan. Tiger will be back at Augusta, no pun intended.

It's all starting to look a bit like Weekend at Bernie's.

If Tiger shows up for the Masters Tournament it will be for only two days, maybe less depending on how the glutes are firing.

I never tire of reading anything related to Tiger's glutes.

On a serious note, I'm not sure in this case if it's "how" they're firing, but more so whether or not he can get and keep the glutes activated.

Nothing a couple of pre-round escorts couldn't help with

Over the course of the last year or so how many complete four-round tournaments has Tiger finished? How many has he entered and failed to complete the four rounds? I don't know specifically the numbers, but they probably aren't very promising on his behalf, so I don't know why anybody has any hope of Tiger being successful at the Masters. It's just plain common sense.

Tiger hitting all the shots required at Augusta is a pretty big chore for a guy who seems to struggle when he starts going after it hard, not to mention that walking that course is going to be a huge challenge for him. I am not very optimistic that he will even play, much less make the cut, and I seriously doubt he could play four consecutive rounds on a tough course with big crowds. The only time he has played four rounds in the last year was at the Hero World challenge where there were very few fans and the course was cup-cakey.

The Masters has it's own vibe, doesn't need Tiger to create a buzz.

recent reports, if accurate, have him hitting a lot of balls with Chris Como down in Palm Beach. I doubt he's gearing up for New Orleans or even the Players. Still cannot see him just showing up at Augusta given recent history but who knows. find out Friday afternoon.

So we're juuuuussssttt about back to the "Notah says he striping on the range and shot a worst ball 66" part of this particular Groundhog Day.
