Happy you just said that. These threads are great because of the participants, not just the 'characters'. The WRX faithful bring out the best/worst in these individuals. A shared history that spans more than a decade for many is what truly makes this place so special. I'm always saddened when the 'good ones' disappear.

I rarely admit to it, but I've been a bit of a forum junkie for a lot of years.

 

I was an avid whitewater kayaker for many years and participated on Boatertalk and MountainBuzz. Then I was a big enthusiast of backcountry skiing for a lot of years and was involved at TelemarkTips. I've also been a member of forums for specialty coffee, Volkswagens, and a few that centered around some bands that I used to go see play regularly.

 

I couldn't agree more about the bond that comes from shared perspective with like-minded enthusiasts. I feel lucky to have had some great conversations with fellow WRX'ers and even played some golf with a few. I've always liked fanatics ;)

 

As for the KingLeo KC thread....

 

don't forget that KC lied and told KingLeo that the driver had arrived in hopes of getting a refund of his $50 deposit for sending it back. Very sketchy and probably ban worthy. I think it was such a circus the mod's just let the whole thing go and considering KC still lost the $50 a ban would have been insult to injury. Some people are just made for each other. A guy trying to buy a driver on layaway and another who is selling the club to 10 different people without planning on shipping it. Match made in heaven :)

In the "realistically is a scratch..." thread he refers or insinuates he's a scratch yet also says he "rarely shoots more than +1" when he plays. Anyone who truly does that is in + hdcp territory, even if they do it on that pitch and putt home course he identified. So he was either someone trolling who really didn't know how a hdcp system works or he was trolling and he DOES know how one works and that was his - wink, wink - way of letting you know it. Can't decide really.

I would love to unban JonesScott and bring him back for kind of a "where are they now"...wonder what new topics he could bring up. If he wasnt a troll he did a good job of convincing a lot of us he was.

 

SIDE NOTE- can we also bring back the guy who argued his J. Lindberg putter was worth more than what people were willing to pay and he wanted to create a UK for sale section but get paid for it since it was his idea.

I'm sad to say I missed the JonesScott days, but I do remember the KingLeo vs KC showdown! That was when I learned the best thing to do on a Saturday night was to log into the deal/no deal page and see what the pay-per-view fight was that week. It seems like people were tangling every weekend just for our entertainment, but it slowly died off... those were the days.
