146th Open Championship at Royal Birkdale

This is the only time of year we typically get to see touring professionals play like us and when the course conditions don't lend themselves to that, it is disappointing. The last 2 majors have been crap. Maybe that changes tomorrow.

This year's masters was crap? Looks like Speiths to lose and there's no water hazards in Birkdale.

Rory's course management is some of the worst I've ever see from a multiple major champion. The 10th holes sums up how he strategizes, he doesn't.

What I find annoying, for no logical reason, is how "we" parred the 8th...I can't really argue with some of the logic if I sit and think, it still annoys me though. Great golfer, looks like he will walk it unless he blows up. Only Saturday though loads can happen.

Yeah, you are both wrong--Speith is a fine player who, for his age, plays a very mature game. I'm also enjoying the Open, especially the crowds. How nice to not hear "IN THE HOLE" on the tee box of a long par five!!!! Polite applause and a few "KOOOCH's" is the way fans ought to react--congrats to you Brits out there.

 

How did a Spieth opinion suddenly turn to an insult to US fans? Also, an opinion can't be wrong.

Speith could easily be 5 or 6 clear by now I can only remember 2 missed greens and and he's gone close on a hell of a lot of putts, he deserves to be in front. It is disappointing though in that the way it was shaping up earlier was for a packed leaderboard on Sunday by the end of today it could be anything but.

His putting is awful. I just wonder what he does in his spare time. It's his job. Putting isn't rocket science. Yet he misses 95% on the low side. I've got zero sympathy for him. Love it when he plays well but he's made it clear in the last 18 months in his interviews that he doesn't care enough.
