So sad. Also incredibly difficult journey for his family...apparently could never get adequate insurance due to getting his disease so early in life and apparently has never been able to secure life insurance so makes it even tougher for his family moving forward. Great to see so much support from fellow players and the public.

Heartbreaking news. I had the pleasure of meeting him at the Sands in Torquay. Ended up watching the final innings of the Cubs winning the WS with him and the pro there. A wonderful, down to earth guy.

 

Great to see the outpouring of support from his fellow competitors. I emailed Titleist in Australia recently, asking to sell the yellow bucket hat. Nothing from them at all. Disappointing.

Heard an interview today that had me tearing up, he was talking about how lucky he was, it's just so sad when at a young age through a disease, you know you're going to die

 

Thoughts and prayers are with Lyle family, and no doubt every golfer teeing up this weekend will have a special place in their heart for Jarrod

Golf lost a great person, and more importantly 2 small children lost their father and a wife lost a husband.

I had the enormous pleasure of playing with Jarrod many years ago thru an Aussie friend. To say he was a great man is quite frankly a huge understatement.He had an uncanny knack to make you feel like you were life time blokes. quick whit and a laugh that would fill up the room. I shed more than one tear tonight for him, While it is unbelievably sad he has passed, he is in a much better place and THAT makes me smile. What I shed a tear about was his daughters, so young and innocent, naive to what this world is and all the missed moments that will come that their Daddy won't be there for. CANCER SUCKS.FVCK CANCER.

 

Golf is a unique sport in that there is a common bond amongst all of us, we all struggle with this sport,pro and amateurs alike. you can talk and share experiences and you just get it. I feel certain I can say we all felt like we lost a brother today. Pray for his wife, that God provides her the wisdom and words to guide their young daughters thru this. That God lays his hands on their family to provide them with comfort. I pray for his daughters, that they may have the opportunity thru shared stories and memories a chance to get to know the Jarrod Lyle we all will remember, not the man they saw this past few months. Dance, sing, hug and love on the ones you love EVERY. DAY. you don't know when it can and WILL be taken away.

Urgh, well that sucks.

 

After watching my mother battle with cancer last year, and finally say “enough is enough” I can totally empathise with what he went through, what his family have been through, and will go through, over the coming months and years. It really is a crappy disease.
