I've resisted for far too long. I've played the humble hack. I've pretended that I'm indifferent to how I play. I'm not always 100%. So please forgive-and of course don't read-this transgression.

Β

I have a high swing speed. I can hit a golf ball a long ways. I don't always nor is it typical. Like many that can smack it I can't always tame the beast that is high spin. If we're bragging, and I certainly am at this point, I can match the top guys on tour with swing speed. Granted this is my "everything I've got in the tank" swing but I'm also older than the top SS tour guys. I'll point out that since they're much younger, you should have seen my swing years ago. It still wasn't pretty but it was raw and powerful. As a 15 year old I put out a window in a school that was later measured at 436ft while playing pony league baseball. I can't guarantee that I'll even make contact with one of those swings and I'll stand beside you and laugh at the line that typical swing produces. It ain't pretty. But dangit, if I want to hit mid 120's, I still can. Typical swings now when I care where it goes are much lower. 115 is about tops with any thought put into contact.

Β

I also putted lights out once. My first full round this year I made every single putt under 20ft other than a botched eagle from 18ft on one that led to a tap in birdie. I honestly got a lot more satisfaction from that round than any driving round I've ever had. I probably made 200ft of putts that round. That was fun.

Β

I also fancy myself as the best golf dad on the planet. I love my kids and they have it made. I grew up in the woods and didn't even know what golf was until I was 16 or so. My kids have a lot more opportunities to play the game than I did. I'm not complaining about my youth, far from it. We were po' people and po' people didn't golf back then. I had more important stuff to worry about back then than my kids do now. Such as what animal will I shoot so that I can eat decent today? I told you I was different and my world was different then. My kids would starve to death in that situation probably. I wouldn't mind going back to that way of life, it was so much simpler. The misses, aka the Course Boss, wouldn't dream of it though. Which brings me to the....

Β

Last brag. I've provided a good life for everyone in the house down to the dog. The Course Boss, the kids, even my little doggie. Not a great life but a good one. There's a roof over everyone's head. There's plentiful food on the table. I live in a house I'd have never dreamed of owning growing up. My kids have more opportunities than I'd have ever dreamed. I've worked myself to the bone to get here. I've struggled and the years haven't always been kind. But I'm very proud of what I've been able to provide for them. My only regret would be how easy and soft they see the world. I try to explain to them that it's not. It will chew you up and spit you out if you're not careful.

Β

So this is the brag thread. I've bragged about golf and life. I've occasionally won at golf but feel good about winning at life. I've made mistakes and still do, but every day I wake up now is a darn fine day.

Β

Thank you and I'll show myself out! :)

I know this thread is mostly "tongue in cheek" but today I got my first Ace and it was on a driveable par 4. 289 yard hole, but it doesnt play that long if you cut the dog leg.. Nevertheless, its my first hole in one and it came on a par 4!

Congrats - knock down 2 iron, I'm guessing...???

Assuming a knockdown 8. This is WRX, afterall.

I've had 5 eagles this year. 15 hc

Sandbagger :)

Never had a hio, though, in45 years playing. I have been struggling with my short game, which has been costing me. I get pkenty of good holes during play, but can't seem to shake the bad holes. I have been really working on my short game lately, and it is paying off, but the season is over now.

I improved my cap this month (17.7 to 16.6) and didn't feel like I played particularly well. And... I already have a score posted that will bring it down more on the 15th. That is 6 rounds out of the last 7 that all improved my cap. Single digit here I come!!! In my dreams.

Β

That could mean I'm getting better or... golf is about to serve up some humble stew.

My handicap has been dropping every month since August (20.3 to 15). I have played six rounds and three 9 holes since the end of posting season in CT (Nov. 15th), and my handicap for those rounds is 8.6. Huh? When did this happen? Who is this guy?

Β

Of course, none of these rounds count for posting purposes, so I have that going for me. :angry2: :angry2: :angry2:

I will brag on myself

Β

Started hitting the gym and really taking my game seriously and dropped my handicap from 15.4 (1/2017) to 4.9 (12/2017) now. I won 3 tournaments this year (15+, 10-15, and 5-10 divisions, so one in each) and I gained 6 MPH clubhead speed.

Β

I did not hit a hole in one, but I have been stupidly close, but I did record 13 eagles this year and one near albatross that finished less than an inch from the hole.

I made the golf team my freshman year because I hit a car in the parking lot and my ball bounced back in bounds. It was my assistant coach's dad's vehicle. When my coach got done chewing me out and asked what I had to say for myself I replied "At least I'm laying 1 instead of 3." I made the cut, luckily as a freshman you could be absolutely terrible and they would give you a chance to improve.
