Careers that allow you to play a lot of golf?

What are some careers that to allow you to get on the course 3 or 4 times a week?

I'll be graduating with a finance degree in a year, and I have realized my days of playing golf every day are numbered.

Wealth management, investment banking, and sales are my top three career picks as of now.

If y'all don't mind being detailed:

What do you do for a living?

What is your daily routine like?

how many hours do you work per week?

Do you travel a lot?

are you paid salary, hourly, commission? (I'd like to know how much but you can kindly skip the numbers if you don't want to put that online)

What kind of benefits?

Do you feel like you're well compensated?

You can skip the survey and just put what jobs you or your friends have that play a lot of golf.

Wealth management and sales you should be able to play a good bit. Investment banking you will only see the course in your dreams.

If you're single and don't have to work a summer job, teaching has to be the one that lets you get out there the most. Get out at 3 almost every day and an entire summer off

Sales, shift workers that can work afternoons or nights, Financial Advisor's, fireman, policeman if you work B or C shift, school teachers if you take the summer off, pilot, flight attendant. Anyone that has some flexible hours-- for example if you can show up to the office at 10AM then you can easily get 9 or 18 done every morning before work especially in the summer.

anything commission based where you basically make your own hours....definitely stay out of the actual golf business though.

I have been in Banking for 12 years and you can find opportunities at some companies. It is hit and miss though. Some companies business/ commercial bankers could take out clients at least weekly and at times expense it. When I worked for Chase in San Diego our Financial advisers could take clients golfing and expense it. But this all depends on performance and managers.

Generally High earning self employed people like doctors, Lawyers, Business owners are who golf during the week.

Property rental - guy I know has played everyday this year so far.

Retire - you will have all the time in the world

Normal folks like me and you, tend to work a 40hr+ week and with an understanding wife, I get out 2-3x a week on average. To some that's a lot, to some that's nothing. A couple times a year I have to get out as the first or second tee time. Normally I play twilight rounds. Basically, I just plan my golf around my obligations.

Retirement is the best job to have to play golf. I also worked third shift for a long time and that worked pretty well especially when I didn’t have to pick the kids up after school anymore.

Self-Employed. I own a pretty decent sized Landscaping Company and it can get hectic in the Spring, but Summer and Fall the company is pretty much a machine. And most of my tasks are finance and office work that I can do at night, so I manage to work 60 hours a week and golf around 5 times per week. Even if I only have an hour or so to swing by my club to hit on the range, I’m able to swing daily for the most part. I also have the advantage of taking clients out to the course to play. And if you know the right people, you can play some pretty sweet courses. My business gave me the opportunity to play at Oakmont a few weeks ago, which was amazing. I play with a few other guys who are self-employed and it’s easy for us to setup times to play during the week because we’re all flexible with our schedules. Self-Employed is the easiest way to play a lot, IMO.

High end steakhouse server

I’m 51

I work 30-35 hours a week. I’m well compensated

2 days a week I don’t go in until 5pm. The other 3 I go in at 215

I’m off 2 days a week including every Sunday

I could play every day. If I do play it’s early Weekdays as the public courses are empty. With the connections through my job I can also see a lot of nice private facilities too.

Learn to be happy playing 9 during the week.

I work in Architecture and Design. I work typically 9-5 with extra hours during tight deadlines. In the summer I can play 9 before work in about an hour(Usually just have to beat the Seniors. They tend to start around 7-8am in my area). Mornings are nice, it's a great way to start the day.

Inherit a lot of money........LOL

As for making the time for golf ( which is time consuming thus dubbed the young men's vice ), any independent contractor job will have the most freedom of spare times, because you make your own schedule.......

However, through the decades for me, it's holds true that when golf game is good, career earnings will be down. Crappy golf game, sales is up and earning is good.

The game was originally populated among the elite and the very rich to "kill time" wagering between themselves for amusement.

Unless you come from a back ground which afford you the luxury of lounging around golf courses all day, we have to work for a living. Trust me, even when your game is good enough to be in demand for your company on the golf course by your clients, it's not the sam if you'd need to socializing and try to close a deal before the 18 ends. Just ask Matt Kuchar,

Golf course maintenance is good! Actually great. Most places start early and are done by 2. Superintendents can play whenever wherever as well. I play 3 18 hole rounds a week plus a few holes during the day just to check things out. There's time to play in the golf industry...trust me there is you just gotta make the time.

I work in a warehouse setting and I manage to play 6 to 8 times a month during peak season. What hinders my ability to play is general stiffness or fatigue. I work a physical job and I go to the gym 3 days a week. I'm quite content playing that many times a month. I would say someone that's self employed or someone with one of the schedules stated above has the best chance to play the most.

Don't go into Medicine if you want to play a lot of Golf, LOL.

I work 50-60 hours a week, 6 days a week, and for how much time, money and effort it took to get to the actual practice of Medicine and how we are reimbursed now, we are grossly underpaid.

The only reason I can get play Golf once in awhile is that my kids are interested. Otherwise, I'm lucky to get out once a month. Even when the weather is great.

That being said, I wouldn't change a thing. Being a Husband, Dad and Professional means the world to me. Golf is a hobby to me and I'm A-Okay with that.
