GOAT fairway wood?

I haven't tried all of them.

Of the The ones I have tried:.

Playing a 815 Alpha 3 wood. Set at 13°, weight in back. It good off of a fluffy lie, or it's a mini-driver because it's only 20 yards shorter than my driver.

Also, I have a 2014 Big Bertha 3 wood set @16°. It is a bomber off the tee, and around 230 yards from the fairway.

An old one that I still have is a Cleveland 13° Launcher DST????

It has an RIP Alpha shaft x flex. It is good off of a fluffy fairway or tee.

Off the tee my 913fd was the best fwy ever. Still havent found my all around GOAT

 

Using this club now and it was just supposed to be a trial run... turned out to be one of the best in my bag. Great off the tee but I find it very easy to hit off the deck, too. Making more birdies on par 5s because of it. Not saying it's the GOAT, just right now.

Ok so since it's -13 here, I got to rummaging around in my stockpile of golf clubs. After thinking about my setup that I used last season, I thought about redoing my fairway wood and hybrid.

 

So here we are...late at night...searching across ebay for fairway woods in really nice shape. Ideally a 4 or 5 wood. Considering a G15, i20, callaway diablo Octane tour, diablo tour, taylormade 300 tour, taylormade aeroburner, and just looking for other options in general.

 

So what are some of your favorites of all time for fairway woods? Head only, shaft only, combo, lemme hear it!

 

The old cobra biocell smartpad with the stock PX shaft - for me it was straight and long and was impossible to misshit!

In my experience, Adams Speedline Super LS. Easy to launch off tight fairway lies, and a pretty hot face. Dirt cheap on eBay these days.

Lots of great "memories" already mentioned. For me it was the tour issue TM 200 Steel Smoothie in 13*. Unfortunately, they were prone to face caves but they were awesome. Actually, still have one waiting to be shafted up. Perfect sole design (but you could dig with it), perfect head size and perfect head shape for me.

My current Xhot 15* with a Blueboard 73 5xct ( 1st gen) is the best one I've owned since the V steel.

Before that I had a TM Firesole that was great for my game.....

How did the Purple Ice shaft work out for you?

like a cat hearing a tuna can open i somehow saw 'purple ice" and have to say... GD purple ice 85X IS the best fairway shaft ive ever hit ... still kick myself for selling the one i played... AD DI works as good...but doesnt feel as good especially off the turf.... purple ice is the truth!

 

I agree. Still game a Bridgestone J33 with GD Purple Ice 75FW-X. It actually kicked my beloved TiSi Tec out of the bag years ago. 3W is a club I hardly hit so I will occasionally rotate my TiSi Tec or TEE CB Pro in the bag.

I picked up a TEE CB Pro late last summer with Speeder 757x and was very disappointed in the feel and sound. The face felt hot but the sound was hollow and tinny with a dead feel to it...if that makes sense. Couldn’t feel where it was struck on the club face. I’ll probably pull the 757 and put it in my backup J33.

Yep, the sound was a bit hollow but the face felt hot. I got the one with the Speeder661 shaft. The trajectory and explosiveness is better though than the TEE EX9. The CB Pro was more in the likes of the CB3 I have used before.

Nice to see the SS03 love. I have a 13,14 and 15. MASSIVE off the tee. Longer than my driver on some tees.
