Is golf your only hobby?

I have too many hobbies and seem to rotate from one to the other. I love golf, I race 1/4 scale R/c cars and I have a couple old cars (52 Chevy and 72 Chevelle) that I tinker on. Not to mention past with slot cars both track and drag racing. With retirement coming in a couple years I am going to have to thin some stuff down. My daughter play travel softball year Roy d so I don't have a lot of time for any of them. She will be in n college in 2 years so hope to have some more time other than watching her play in college.

Haha I have had the last 60 days or so off work... I have been learning Spanish as well. No bueno, pero, estoy intentado.

 

Hobbies... Golf, Cycling, hiking (not that frequent though), traveling (and not just to play golf... I kind of travel a lot and really enjoy it)... skiing/snowboarding. And my PS4 gets a nice workout from time to time. Especially since I haven’t worked in 60 days.

 

Oh and cars. I love cars. Grew up doing HPDEs with my father. And while I haven’t been on the track in a few years, I’m still big into cars and love them. Recently bought my first true ‘sports car’ and drove it from Columbus Ohio to Phoenix. Good times.

1) I'm a general-purpose tinkerer so any excuse to tinker is a good one. Golf is the main outlet, but there's also time/$ for RC trucks and quadcopters, home improvement, experimental cooking, anything DIY.

 

2) Anything that gets the family out of the house and away from our TVs/Phones, Beach/kites, disc golf, gardening, travel.

 

3) Gaming hobbies (chess, poker, card/casino games, dominoes, sudoku, sports betting, etc). I think they're great ways to practice math, logic, and career-relevant social skills like reading people, dealing with success/failure, handling pressure, and managing risk/reward strategically. And they're fun.

 

I also have a thrift-shopping and deal-hunting hobby to support the hobbies above and other family activities.

It’s nice to come across fellow RC enthusiasts! I raced 1/12th carpet, 1/10 4wd Touring Car on carpet, and 1/8th nitro on-road for a while. I also have rc airplanes, helicopters, and slope gliders (SoCal thing).

I'm probably as good a runner as i am a golfer. Though i love golf a lot more....But my mile time or 5-mile time i would say is probably in the top < 1% or so for my age group

Fishing. I like getting the kids out for local trout, bluegill, etc. Then, I make an annual long-range tuna trip. So far, all trips have been out of San Diego. Looking at some albacore up north someday too, and going after a grander bluefin out of Prince Edward Island. Nothing better than a freezer full of tuna, dorado and yellowtail...

I'm the asst coach for our local HS golf team. Had an invitational yesterday and one of the opposing players had an argument with their parents on the course. His mom went home. Poor kid almost walked off the course. Why can't parents just spectate? Sad.

I’d say golf has always been my most prominent hobby. Most of my family members are hunters and my dad even makes his own duck calls, I just never got into it.

 

Not sure if it counts, but my girlfriend and I are really big Stars & Mavs fans and attend a few games a month.

Back when I used to coach I said I wanted to put together a team of orphans so I would not have to deal with parents.

I was a hockey goalie growing up. Even cracked a NCAA D3 roster for 2 years. Only dressed in a few games and played one period.

 

Ive mostly been playing beer leagues as a forward since then. I ended up getting sucked back into playing net a couple years ago though and am having fun with it again.

Cooking (BBQ specifically). I have an assortment of Weber grills of varying sizes (18.5", 22.5", Ranch Kettle, Weber Smoky Mountain). Two weekends ago I made this feast for a group of friends: Pulled Pork, Corn Salad, Cole Slaw, Collard Greens, Jalapeno Cheddar Corn Bread, Deviled Eggs. All cooked from scratch by me. I do this a few times a year and love it.
