Has anyone seen or noticed if Fowler has even played a practice round or been on the range in the past two/three days? Haven't seen him on the coverage at all.

He played with Phil, Tom Brady and Jimmy Dunne at Friar's Head yesterday, supposedly playing National today (Phil is, not sure about Rickie)...

Interesting, I know he played National Monday too, wonder why he is playing the courses surrounding as oppose to Shinnecock

Phil does it to stay out of the hoopla, guessing he feels all the prep work he does ahead of time gives him what he needs in terms of course knowledge so he doesn't need to play any practice rounds the week of the tourney. Golf Channel showed Phil hitting flops shots on Live From yesterday, pretty sure they didn't have cameras at Friar's Head so assume he is practicing some at the course, just not playing practice rounds. Maybe Rickie is doing the same?

That's a good point regarding all of the hoopla. And yes, as another member pointed out just now Rickie is on the range, very cool he played with Brady and Dunne yesterday though.

For those who refer Tiger as 'Big Cat', it makes you sound so amateurish. Like a 9 yo with a crush.

 

Why on earth do you care what people call him.

 

His name is Tiger! Tigers are generally referred to as "big cats". Maybe you didn't realise that?

 

Jeeze, it's a nickname based off his real name; just like Arnie and Arnold.

Many of the references to Big Cat on wrx are usually associated within a childish context of; "big cat lurking" or "big cat on the prowl and the young guns are nervous" simply because he gets two birdies in a row, never mind the facts that he's still 10 shots off the lead.

 

To be fair. Thats what big cats literally do. They on the prowl. Just like a golden bear would maul you or the king sitting on his throne. Its all perspective.

Looks like the wind will be strongest in the afternoon on Thursday and strongest in the morning on Friday. Huge disadvantage for those guys going late - early.

Basically they asked him a question about Tiger making him a big name and he said lets not forget who got him to #1. Said he thinks Tiger could win a lot again if he'd lay back with the driver and stop trying to pound it as far as the young guys, but his ego wont let him. (Which I can agree with.)

does the hole have a dogleg? is it down wind (typically)? is it downhill?

 

plenty of 'long' holes are not really that long if you can cut doglegs or get a ton of roll, or are downwind/downhill.

 

figure he hits his 3w what, 275 carry? rolls to 300+ ? down wind that's maybe what, 6/7i into the green or less?

 

**Sidenote - that m4 3w is DEEP with the right shaft in it. also, DJ hit a drive on 10 (i think it was the 10th hole); 400 yards and he was 5' short of the bunkers guarding the front of the green. he was chipping.

According to Golf Channel, the morning wave will have a decided advantage tomorrow as the course will be a bit soft and the wind not really a factor. The afternoon wave will experience gusts up to 30 mph, sunshine, and as a result the course will play firmer and faster.

Makes more sense when you consider the firmness and speed of the fairways they are playing on. That 260 carry with his 3 wood ends up around 300 yards depending on the wind

Bovada has a ton of props and 3 player top 10 parlays. I like Willert as top European player at +3300
