Notable foreign players missing:

  • BEL Thomas Pieters
  • JPN Yusaku Miyazato
  • JPN Yuta Ikeda
  • IRL Paul Dunne
  • AUT Bernd Wiesberger
  • SWE Aleexander Bjork
  • ESP Adrian Otaegui
  • NED Joost Luiten
  • ESP Jorge Campillo
  • ENG Lee Westwood

Yeah, I think we define "notable" a little differently. I've heard of all but 2 but I would say the only notable ones are Westwood, Dunne and Pieters, maybe Weisberger.

Rory said he been coming to play shinny the past 5 summers and been there for a week.

So you think he's geared up for the Shinnster?

A bag of left-handed junk.

USO, the most respected tournament on the planet.

For those who refer Tiger as 'Big Cat', it makes you sound so amateurish. Like a 9 yo with a crush.

I'm sorry you're not amped to watch the Big Cat on the prowl.

I enjoy watching Tiger Woods, but he is only a remnant of what he used to be. Maybe it's just me, but I can't imagine any respected golfer using the name big cat when referencing tiger. To me, it just sounds like a somebody with a child like admiration for Tiger. Whatever, if that is what you like.

It’s realy pretty simple. A tiger is the biggest cat on earth. By a large Margain . He gained that nickname because. Well since he went by tiger. Why would the nickname change now? Somehow you’ve tied “ big Cat “ to best player. Which is false. It’s tied to tiger. The largest cat on earth.

The biggest cat in the world is a Liger.

Are you out of your freaking mind!? He's hardly touched a club the last few years and he's already contended at numerous tournaments this season. You'll need to wait at least 1 more year before you can intelligently call him "a remnant of what he used to be".

If he were scraping to hit it 280 with his repaired back; if he still had the short game yips; if he'd missed every cut in the events he had entered this season, then you might have some relevant data to make such a claim. But he has done none of those things. People are gonna get excited, and if they wan't to pin a few nicknames on the man, then so be it.

There are lots of people saying they like the tough conditions.

I like the course to be tough but fair. Some of the courses the USGA has put together were just nonsense. These guys are the best in the world, if you want to make it a really tough but fair challenge I think a score between -4 and -8 should win it. 1 to 2 under a day seems like a great winning score on a tough course. Anything with higher scores usually is caused by "gimmicky" conditions that have gone past playable. Any lower scores probably means the course could have been set up tougher.

Isn't Rory's season already over since we're past ANGC now?

Or am I putting words in his mouth?

I am secretly loving that Rickie is "under the radar" coming into this week. Newly engaged, he will either miss the cut or win by 10 :taunt: :taunt: :taunt:

He had been off of social media this season so you know all of his buddies getting trophies is starting to wear on him. Hopefully he has been really focusing on his game, he's had enough fun, time to get to work! I really hope he can pull one off this year. This tourney does setup decent for him. He obvioulsy can hit it a ton and his wedges are up there with the best of em. Its the flat stick, if he can put anywhere close to where is was in 15 and last year, should be a good showing!! I am sure that when he does get one, he will rattle off a few more.

lol.. yes.. But you have to have superior "skills" to corral one in the wild.... Maybe with a bow staff , some nunchucks.... perhaps draw him a picture to lure him into a snare ?
