Sir Phil has got this in the bag.

GO SIR PHIL MICKELSLAM!!!

I have embraced the new generation of golfing heroes, so I am inclined to pull for guys like Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas or Jason Day. But it would certainly be quite a thrill to see Phil win the career grand slam, and to do it in New York.

If Phil were to win this week, it very well could be the biggest story in sport all year.

Tiger was there prior to The Memorial. Tiger is likely at Shinnecock practicing now. Phil is playing in Memphis this weekend.

https://www.golfchan...te-significant/

My bad, it's not Phil, but there were other high profile golfers along with Rory who arrived at Shinnecock the day after Memorial.

I know Tiger played there prior to the Memorial, but it's one thing to fly in for a practice round or 2 and another to get there 10 days early to get familiar with the course and practice on the grounds where the tournament will be played. And it doesn't seem like he's there yet, or else it would've been reported already. His ship has been there for few days, but he's most likely not getting there until Monday.

how is staying on a 20,000,000 yacht a disadvantage, LMAO.....

The commute? Wouldn't it be more advantageous to be as close to the golf course as possible? 60 miles of driving each day for a guy with back trouble as opposed to just walking to the course from a nearby hotel.

There are no nearby hotels in the hamptons.

I think I know all I want about the players. If I want to get info about Shinnecock, the course conditions, weather predictions and such, where do I go? All the major golf sites including masters.com contains of 99% star gazing. And pictures that fills the screen.

Back in the good ol' days the home pages for the majors had an article about such things on their first page (today at the masters...)

I agree with above. I've watched a few videos today of the 18th green that just looks crazy. Jeff Smith "radargolfpro" on instagram has a couple too. Really hope it plays as tough as it looks, just can't believe how fast the greens are for a Monday though

Probably to have the ability to soften them to just where they want to without any rain messing up plans, the jungle rough will get a topping off to the desired height as well (i hope).

That green is mostly unpinnable by USGA recommendations to courses at a speed above 11.5' if you consider a 5% slope works out at 2.9 degrees

USO, the most respected tournament on the planet.

For those who refer Tiger as 'Big Cat', it makes you sound so amateurish. Like a 9 yo with a crush.

I'm sorry you're not amped to watch the Big Cat on the prowl.

I enjoy watching Tiger Woods, but he is only a remnant of what he used to be. Maybe it's just me, but I can't imagine any respected golfer using the name big cat when referencing tiger. To me, it just sounds like a somebody with a child like admiration for Tiger. Whatever, if that is what you like.

It’s realy pretty simple. A tiger is the biggest cat on earth. By a large Margain . He gained that nickname because. Well since he went by tiger. Why would the nickname change now? Somehow you’ve tied “ big Cat “ to best player. Which is false. It’s tied to tiger. The largest cat on earth.

Funny. There was a long drive guy back in the day - Evan Big Cat Williams. Whenever I hear "Big Cat", I think of Williams.

Alright gents, I want an absolute total bloodbath- carnage of the highest order! Of the sort not to be seen again until 1 year from this week.

Winning score to be E give or take a stroke.

Keep it clean, and no rules shenanigans.

Same, but i saw a player (don't know who it is) on the jonesgolfbags instagram stopping a little 15yd pitch from below the surface dead on landing so at present the greens are taking plenty of spin

Nah, dude, he's still a solid six feet tall and banging out top 25 finishes. No remnants here by a long shot. And who wouldn't want to be child-like? It's awesome. Of such is the Kingdom of God, pard.

Boy, I like Cara a lot on Morning Drive, but she's got no business being on site at a major hosting Live From.

And I thought Rolfing was Mr Hawai, now he's an east coast wind expert too?

Actually Sir, Mark Rolfing grew up in the birth place of Cindy Crawford, barb wire (Joe Glidden) and Northern Illinois University...DeKalb, IL. The winds blow over the corn fields with regularity.
