What is your biggest difference in 9 hole score during a 18 hole round? Tale of two nines

Recommended Posts

I've never broken 80. I've scored the odd 81, 82, or 83. I've scored a 40 on 9 holes once.

Today, it was...

Out: 35 (11 putts)

In: 46 (20 putts)

As much as I want to complain about that +10 back nine, I just can't get over how amazing that front nine (actually, through #11) felt.

I felt like a pro. It felt so easy. I couldn't miss. I now know for sure that "it" is in me. I can't wait to get out again.

Threw up a 43/36 today. Typically shoot high 70's and usually post a 39/40 or something like that. Literally had to sink 3 putts from 6-8 feet to save bogey and questioned what I was doing on the front 9. Couldn't miss on the back. 2 birdies and a double, stood on an 8 iron and 1 hopped from the back of green into the water. Funny thing is that it never left the flag on its way to the water.....

Golf = Crazy

Thought I'd share this one.  2-over thru 10 holes.  Then the wind really picked up on the exposed part of the course.  And, uh, my suckiness really picked up, too!  Last 8 holes were triple, double, triple, double, double, double, quadruple, triple.  Several stroke-and-distance-lost-balls in there...  The cherry on top was this round triggered the GHIN Soft Cap.

Scorecard:  37 - 58.   (par is 35 - 37)

36/45 today, thought it was going to be the day. 2 birdies on the front then birdied 10 and went to crap and started missing putts and greens and fairways. Stupid game

August/September 2009 time frame ...

Playing at Harbor Town ....

Probably playing off a 5 or 6 handicap at the time ....

50 on the front 9

39 on the back 9

89

I was severely hung over on the front 9. Wedding weekend, I was in bridal party. Back 9 was capped off with a man's par on 18!! A four wood off the tee, from the tips, into the fairway. A planned 4 iron into the front bunker (I knew I couldn't hold the green from 210ish and the green is the size of a dime). A blast out of the bunker to about 6 feet and proceeded to make the putt!

Fun to see this thread pop back up.

Well, since it is Harbor Town Weekend, and my previous record came on those grounds, I thought I'd update this as I've broken my own record.

Previous record, 11 shot swing: 50-39-89.

New record, 13 shot swing!!!!

47 - 34 - 81

US Open Local Qualifier to boot! Circa 2017 if I recall correctly. Opening tee shot went sooooo far left out of bounds it hit a Stop Sign on the fly. Proceeded to start with an opening Quadruple Bogey. Followed with 17 holes cumulative of +5.

Probably the oddest round I ever played.

Winds were strong, very strong, off the Narragansett. Probably 3 clubs into the wind, maybe even 4 at times, and 1 1/2-2 clubs down wind. Greens were lightning. Anything from 15 feet or so, and you were just lagging it down there with thoughts of 2 putting.

I missed, on the day, in grand total, 3 shots, and it led to 81. My tee ball on 1, my tee ball on 5, and my tee ball on 9. Only 1 of those went OB. The tee ball on 1. Tee Ball on 5 and 9 were both left rough, clear vantage to the green on each. Outside of those 3 swings, I played damn near perfect.

81 !!!!

47 - 34 - 81 !!!!

This is a thread I hoped I would never post in.  Went 37 - 52.  A recent swing change made a huge difference on the front but I regressed to an ugly hybrid of old and new on the 10th tee.  First came rope hooks which devolved into huge block banannas. The good news is that I know I can groove the new move with work.
