At my home course, 31(-5) front, holed out for eagle on the 9th (#2hdcp uphill blind) I definetly thought it was my day, stopped for a quick bite ( mistake) golf gods said not today, 40(+5) back for a even 71, gagged my way in thinking about my pesonal course record starting on 10. Lol.

Even worse, I once made 7 birds and shot even, crazy game!

Last year I went 51-36 on a 36-35 on a 6192 yard course from blues as a 18 HC at the time, I was playing as a single with 3 older ladies one of them asked midway through the back nine “do you always play better on the back?” To which I replied yes but not this much better had a 30ft putt to go even on the back nine and just missed it. Still one of the most memorable rounds just for the pure absurdity of not caring about score anymore and just started hitting shots

Last summer I shot a 45-35. and it was a Par 35/37 split. 10 over on the front, an eagle and 8 pars on the back to be 2 under there. One of the strangest days I've had, and a little inspiration anytime a front 9 isn't going well.

Just this last week on that same course I went 8 over on the front and even par on the back. Something is telling me to just start playing the back 9 out there.

... Been THERE!

Par 71. 7 Birdies. I think the longest Birdie putt I made was 5 feet (ish). Most Birdies in a round.

After a beautiful drive, sitting in the middle of the fairway on 18. Par 5. Thinking Birdie, maybe knock another stiff and have an Eagle opportunity. I proceed to make a Triple.

7 Birdies.

6 Pars.

4 Bogeys.

1 Triple.

17 Handicap

51 on the Front, 40 on the Back.

First time playing this course. Real slow afternoon. Couldn't hit a ball solid on the front, chunking shots, blading wedges, it was ugly. Thought about leaving after 9, but grabbed a beer and a sausage at the turn instead as the group ahead was leaving. Bogied the 10th, followed by 5 straight pars.

Credit to the beer and sausage.

45/33 for my first time to break 80. I played solo the first 6 holes, and then caught another group who asked me to join them on 7..... had a couple cold ones and couldnt miss a putt on the back. I kept the scorecard because it was so ridiculous. only shot sub 80 again one other time in the 2 years to follow 🤣

Playing in first or two rounds in the Club Champs, black tees, greenskeeper had been in a bad mood, reached the turn -2 gross with my hook only appearing as a nice tight draw. Stopped at halfway hut because there was another group on the tee, and had a sausage sandwich. This must have stimulates my hook, which appeared with a vengeance on the 10th tee, double bogey 6 on a par-4, and again on the 11th tee, bogey 6 on a gettable par-5. The back nine was a disaster and I would need a calculator to count the total.

Haven't had a sausage sandwich at the turn since.

lol, I thought I was the only one to suffer from the apparent "food coma" at the turn. Shot 39 front 47 back after scarfing down two dogs yesterday. Much like you, the driver went rogue. The added weight of the dogs clearly was the issue, totally messed with my swing plane 😂

To be fair, I think it was more the interruption in the flow of the game and the rhythm rather than the sausage per se. Still, no more sausage sandwiches since.

A common theme for me at my current home track in Portugal. The back 9 is easier as the front nine, 3-4 shots easier. Tournaments start early (for me) here 8am tee times is what I am facing. Regardless of how early I get out of bed, how much coffee I take and how much warm up I do, it just takes me a good hour to get to play golf rather then hitting balls. Body is not moving but more importantly the mind is absent.

Like last Saturday, was up to my 2nd provisional from the first tee, find my first fortunately, but have to take an unplayable. End with a double, make 2 more doubles in the first 4 holes and have burned my 6 shots after 4 holes. End up making 45 on the first 9.

Second nine, I decide that I will shoot level par. Start off 10 with a bogey, follow it with a par birdie and 5 pars to be level on 18, our toughest hole. FIR, GIR but 60+ feet uphill with about 10ft of break. I end up lipping out my par putt for a 37.

Oh I remember this well.

I was 1 under after 6 holes, triple bogeyed the 7th, par, par, for a  +2 (38) on the front

Then I said, "Wow, this has got to be the best round of my life."

And shot a 7, 7, 9 on the 11, 12, and 13th holes before I quit keeping score.
