2018 RSM Classic at St. Simons Island

The venue and surrounding area look stunning. No wonder over 20 PGA players live on the island.

 

It is a beautiful area. Back in 96-98, I was a firearms instructor at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Glynco, GA and when we had a chance we would tee up in courses around that area.

I was at FLETC in 2009. I wasnt playing a lot of golf at the time but was able to play on Jekyll island. Had a great time in Saint Simons Island too. Looking at making that area my home in the next couple years as an instructor.

Yeah the wind must have been nuts. Don't remember which hole it was but right at the end of the day they had the shot tracker on the group of Furyk, Z. Johnson, and Webb Simpson. Drive straight into the wind and all three hit drivers... Think Simpson barely eclipsed 240yds while both Furyk and ZJ were measured at 222. Realise we are talking about some of the shorter hitters on tour but for reference Zach Johnson averages more than 285yds off the tee over the past couple years.

What is the difference of plantation course and sea side course? I see big difference in scoring between two courses; lower scores at SS.

Seriously man, all the pundits on here have been harping that he is over-hyped and that distance isnt everything. Not sure what he is doing continually being in contention going into the weekend

Nice to see CH3 up there. Would be good to see him pick up some wins later in his career. Certainly making one of the most boring tournaments of the year a slightly more interesting watch.

Yes I as well wish these young promising players would just stop winning and go away. If I want to hear commetators gush over a superstar I'll just watch Tiger play until he's 70. Wish Champ would just miss some cuts and go back to the web.com so that we can put an end to this nonsense.

Howell has never closed out a 54 hole lead in his career. He's going for win #3, his first in 11 years. His long streak of keeping his card easily looks set to continue.

 

Gore won his only event 13 years ago and he's just trying to keep his career alive.

 

If Champ wins, he is the first player to win twice in his ten PGA Tour starts since..................yep.. Tiger Woods.

 

If Webb Simpson wins, he's going to do another IZOD commercial.
