Iblade 2.0

Recommended Posts

I bought Blueprint in 6-W to replace those clubs in my iBlade set. Best decision ever. Haven’t hit a single nuclear short iron of a perfect lie...distance control on well struck shots is perfect. It’s a touch more forgiving than it looks, too.

Who would of thought that a small, relatively unforgiving blade from a company that's products are renowned for exactly the opposite would of failed to capture the market's attention (other than a small group of Golf Wrx type folks.)

Have to agree. As amazing as the BPs are I cannot imagine there is a huge market for them.

>

> I have neither and I found the i210 at least as good as the i200. No idea where this hate for it comes from. I think it delivers exactly what Ping promised. A cast club with a buttery feel - at least buttery out of the center. Off the toe it sounds different than a forged club's toe strike. But I don't really care about how a bad shot feels bad from club to club. I don't rank my clubs by the pleasant sound it makes when I make a really bad strike.

>

>

I have i200s and i210s in nearly the same shaft configuration (Project X 6.0, though i210s are hard stepped once) and nearly the same specs - i200s are D1 whereas i210s are D2 - and the i200s both feel (every time) and perform [marginally, consistently] better, both on my launch monitor (GC2+HMT) and on-course (though the latter is probably more a between-the-ears thing). That said, I need to give the i210s more time, as I haven’t been playing or simulating much. I have three i210 3-P sets in different shafts (True Temper Dynamic Gold Tour Issue X100, Nippon N.S. Pro Modus3 Tour 120 X, Project X 6.0 one hard step). I also have S55s (True Temper Dynamic Gold Tour Issue S400), S56s (True Temper Dynamic Gold S300), and a partial set of S59s (as Ping broke a few of these irons; Project X 6.0 one hard step).

My rankings at present would be 1) i200 (best feel, best forgiveness, best overall performance), 2) i210 (forgiveness placing it ahead of S55 (which has better feel)), 3) S55, 4) S59 (love the feel, but not the best distance or forgiveness), 5) S56. I have some single S58 and S57 irons and I don’t care for either. I am probably going to order a set of Blueprints (just because) and ditch the DG’d i210s.

I’m pretty sure Ping realized this would happen. I’m sure the Blueprints are wonderful MB’s but MB’s nevertheless. Mark my words this will be the first and LAST forged MB from Ping ever. Probably a set I should stash in the closet.

I heard something completely different, rep told me the iBlade replacement will be coming Spring of 2020, he told me the Blueprint’s were originally intended to be a very limited release to a very small portion of consumers and sales have exceeded expectations.

Except for the fact that Titleist has 4 drivers (TS1 - 4) and 6 sets of irons (T100 - 300, CB, MB, T-MB) not including their CNCPT abominations....

Exactly^

TM is honestly behind Titleist and Callaway at this point with release cycles, Callaway has what, 13-14 iron sets out right now? And Titleist is literally what everyone says TM is.

Well, we need a "source" who actually works within Ping (design/engineering). That said, my person is more often right than wrong, but I wish they were more right on this one. I love my iBlades and am waiting with baited breath on the next iteration.

It's odd that TM is starting to "slow their roll" while Titleist and Mizuno are stating to roll out more overlapping lines, especially in their irons. Really, the JPX Tour is analogous to the MP blade while the HM Pro, HMB, and JPX Forged are all seem to be aimed at similar players.

I love my Blueprint/iBlade combo...3-5 iBlade and 6-PW Blueprint. If there is a new iBlade, I can definitely see replacing the 3-4 iron and getting the 5 iron in Blueprint. I just hope Blueprint doesn't go away before 2.0 comes out.

S55 isn’t as special if you forge it, IMO. Forged, it’s just another nice looking iron that costs a ton. Cast, it’s cheaper, indestructible, and still feels great.
