Tiger Woods 2019 Taylormade Irons...P7TW?

Demand outpaced supply. One could argue that if Taylormade kept these as a limited release they would have cut down on the complaining. I, perhaps more than most, am impatient. I attribute this to more of a character flaw of mine as opposed to someone failure in the supply chain.

 

With all of that said the spring in Wisconsin has been absolute trash, so that makes the waiting not as bad.

Okay...then don’t get them. Move on and take your money somewhere else...done. I’m sure they’ll survive your departure from buying TM products, they appear to be doing fine. It only boils down to one thing...jealousy. Your jealous of the folks that received a set and you weren’t privey to a set and other people were, so now you intend to make it a point to post at every opportunity that you are unhappy that you weren’t one of the fortunate ones. Obviously you now feel they “owe” you something. Fun fact, they really don’t. Point made, we all get it, and you’ve made it known more than enough times in this thread.

I was able to get out and hit them on the range and get a twilight 9 in. I like the sole so much better than the 730 but need to get them to my specs and get a few rounds under my belt

Jeeze, people take this site and themselves so seriously on here. Who is anyone to say how many times someone posts about something? Who cares anyways, it keeps the thread going and you dont have to read it if you choose not too. And who could honestly defend Taylormade here? What's the point of preordering something if you cant have it when its released? Especially when they ask people to pay that kind of money and when it was supposed to be a limited release. It's bad business, no matter what way you cut. They are clearly an arrogant and greedy company. I dont see how people can defend them here

Sure. Never denied that. Was pretty clear I was jealous the day they released and mine never arrived. No point in stating the obvious. But . That doesn’t change the fact that TM is notorious for this type thing in a release. If it’s not over selling and under delivering .., it’s having a cow about a leaked m4 pic 4 days before they release the pics themselves, even going so far as to somehow get a member here’s cell info and having an attorney contact them. All that rather than do their own housekeeping and find THEIR internal leak.

 

No I do not feel they owe me anything. They owe all the people who paid $2k for a set of irons on the premise that they were buying a limited release product. A set that doesn’t sell for $ 1800 easily now ( as evident by the sets lingering everywhere for sale).

 

This thread is for discussion of this release. That’s all I’m doing. I’m sorry that it doesn’t fit your idea of ok. I do agree that I’ve got the point across many times over. I promise I’ll lose all interest once my irons arrive. I may update for posterity when the shops 3 sets arrive ( if they do ) just to complete the tale.

I've been trying to stay out of this latest discussion, but I take major issue with your statement that I put in bold above. You and a number of others on this site ran with the whole limited angle at the very beginning based on secondhand, and sometimes thirdhand info. You helped create the exact mess you're complaining about. The whole thing about there being a box for early sets and then later "retail" sets without a box. You were the one who went on and on about that and helped create a perception in many minds that it was truth.

 

The fact is that there was never any sort of announcement that these were a limited release product. Some of the reps believed that based on the info they had at a very early stage, which is what spilled over on to the site, but the product itself was never announced as such upon it's official launch. Not once. And that's all that matters.

 

Whether or not TaylorMade initially intended these to be a limited release product (which I believe they did) is completely immaterial to the discussion. Product plans can change before a release based on perceived demand. It happens, and it appears to have happened here. They didn't sell anyone a $2K set of irons on a premise that they were buying a limited release product. You and others created the perception they had a limited product.

I got that directly from the Taylormade reps mouth. His mouth to my ear. “Limited , I’m allowed so many sets , better order now “etc. similar things said to others here. That’s why the idea spread. We where told that. Heck. My shops owners still believe it. They are not following this online and look at me cross eyed when I tell them that this is the new Taylormade mb. This isn’t a falsehood that I made up. I’m sorry to be the bad news bear , but that’s the truth.

 

Of course it was intended to be limited. Why else would they run out well before the release ? Answer. They only made a few sets . Realized that they could sell more and did.

 

I’ve not said that they didn’t have a right to sell more. I just feel like it was a bit bait and switch , even if not a direct falsehood. They didn’t correct the idea publicly at all that ive read . $2k for a set of MB irons is unheard of unless it’s a hand ground DW or MT set. Remember , several of us commented directly at the Taylormade rep here several times with questions on the boxing , limited status , pricing of each etc. , no response was given. I don’t think for one second that he/she doesnt get those notifications. This isn’t a conspiracy to besmirch TM. It’s genuine dissatisfaction and disappointment from a guy who tried to overspend on a set of their irons that was never delivered.

 

Still a great looking set of irons. No chance i could look down at them and not think bad thoughts .

Forgot to say. I suppose I agree with you on the happenings of how the misunderstanding came to be. And that’s what I was trying to say it was and didn’t do a good job of it. But. That misunderstanding went unchecked , or uncorrected, even with direct phone calls by me to Tm customer service. I never once was told “ no. These are available as a full release product until the next model comes out “. I continuously got the “ each rep is allotted so many sets and then later depending on demand we will take preorders directly. “. So I do the only thing that made sense and placed the order though my shop directly to the rep. Somewhere from there to here that all became different. The fact that it’s a misunderstanding or miscommunication doesn’t take TM off the hook for a poorly handled release.

Agreed, people can and should post whatever they want. I think the entire arrogant and greedy line on TM just depends on who's ox is being gored. I've had great and negative experiences with them. My personal favorite, for a lot of reasons, is Ping. but, I've had two absolute crap experiences with them on shafts for irons, but also have had items show up sooner than promised. Titleist couldn't be more upper class as a company, and I've also had good and bad experiences.

The issue I have with TM, is that is not just this release. Some shafts were backordered for quite a while with the P730s and the M5 Tour head was delayed for whatever reason.

To me that means that they keep a very light inventory. I get being cost-efficient, but there is no way I am waiting this long for a product from a major OEM.

As some may know, Initially the new Ford GT was slated to have a production run of only 500 cars. But the demand has been so dang high that they decided to extend the run and make what's going to be a total of 1,350 cars. Only 130 something cars were delivered by 2017, some people are still waiting from the intial allocation, that's fine. And of course companies have the right to extend a production. Even if it slightly diminishes the value, but do you think it would have been right for someone who orderd the car in 2016 to have to wait on their car while someone who ordered after the new allotment in 2018 receives theirs? It's simple, No. Regardless of what Taylormade was trying to do here with this release. It's been handled super poorly with no transparency. In the age of communication, they choose not too. Which to me speaks volumes.

p730 was heads as well, my order was held up on pw heads back when it was first released

No, my P7TW are TW specs and for my collection. Once the hype dies down, I will order a set to my specs and convert over.

Before you order them, go and hit the Z forged and compare them. For me the z forged felt a lot better and had a way better turf interaction

They were way over priced to begin with..... 2K for a set of mass produced irons is ridic..... They arent limited edition 1 of 500 etc. They arent even made from the same metal Tiger used. You can get other blades for half the cost or less, Cobra's with 2 Tungsten plugs, Titleists, Mizuno's, Srixon, Callaway, Etc Etc

So I benched mt T.7TW's and put the P730's back in the bag. I'm hitting them way to high and losing at least a club to a club and half in distance. I don't know what the issue is but I have the same shafts in both irons.

When I get a chance I'll have to get someone to check the specs for me. Other than that I love how they feel and look. Hopefully they'll make it back into the bag.

Weird. Mine all tiger specs and haven’t really lost more than a couple yards

UK delivery update. Standard/Tiger specs (S400 shafts, lofts etc) are only now being received at stores, my AD (Scottsdale) got 2 sets yesterday. Custom spec, still no delivery date. Spoke with the MD at Scottsdale and he has been in direct contact with TM UK, who gave him some BS about a shortage of specialist club builders....

I am very curious about the prices on these you are starting to see. So many sets on Ebay right now. I wonder if a bunch of people bought them, then decided that their 20 handicap didn't warrant playing them.
