New 19* Hybrid Recommendations

LazyLightning22

Recommended Posts

I currently have a 21* 909H that I love, but my gapping has become an issue with my 4 iron. I debating on either getting another 909 at 19* or upgrading to a latest and greatest. I was hoping to get some recommendations for hybrids that y'all have tried and found. As always I appreciate the responses.

I like the TaylorMade M2 2017. It's forgiving and sets up square. If you get the right shaft with it, that thing goes far. I've also heard good things about the G410, G400, and any of the Rogue hybrids.

I had great results with the Titleist 915H hybrids that I had in play for a couple of years before going back to long irons for gapping and better confidence to flight the ball lower through the wind. That said, the few times that I've demoed the Titleist 818H1 and H2, I was impressed with their performance. I've always been impressed with the performance of Ping hybrids, but Just can't get on with the look of them despite their outstanding performance. I never had it in play, but did demo it a couple of years ago and found the Mizuno JPX hybrid to be a solid offering as well in my VERY limited experience with it.

Love my new G410. Love. Incredibly solid feel, great launch, accurate and the adjustability is a great addition. It’s very quickly become my favorite club. Don’t buy something else without hitting it.

I can see where the turbulators on a smaller head might bother some people, but if you’re already hitting a driver with them, it shouldn’t be an issue.

Driver: TaylorMade Sim2 Max - 10.5*
Fairway: Callaway Epic Max - 15*, 21*, 25*

Wedges: PXG 0311 Sugar Daddy II 56*

I like the Tour Edge EX10 ... and you can get them inexpensively and put on your own shaft. I don't think the EXS is that much different other than slightly easier to launch - depends on shaft. EX10 has a very elegant looking head and is neutral to me.

The PXG original head is also a great hybrid - since it's the 1st generation and not too much different from the current 3rd Gen other than some honeycomb material, I'd also give it a look. Hopefully, prices went downward.

I've liked xcg7 beta (old), and more recently, CBX (both by Tour Edge).

I had a similar issue and ended up going with a 2017 m1. I love this club. It plays very iron like, similar to the old adams hybrids. It's workable, great off the tee and from deep lies as well. It's not the most forgiving hybrid, so keep that in mind however.

Diamond tour golf has 19* cobra hybrid heads for like $10. Very cheap experiment. Bio-cell-s black I believe.

Golfworks sells a UST V2 hybrid shaft now in Matte black cheap as well. Would make a sick hybrid actually

What your intention with this Hydbrid? What distances are you looking at. I recently got a new 3 hybrid meant for 225 yards, Ping G with an Xstiff and its perfect for what i wanted. Low launch/spin off the tee for a straight shot, and still hold the odd par 5 i need to go at.

If you need something for going at par 3's with it may be a different intention, i look at mine more as a 5 wood replacement than a long iron replacement.

Yeah it’s definitely be for long par 3s and into par 5s. A solid 4 iron for me maxes out at 195 for me so I’m hoping to get a hybrid for the gap up to 210.

Don't snooze on the new tour edge offerings. I really like the CBX.....not sure what the difference is with the 119 other than more updated shaft options; but also the EXS...hit a 19* today and it's sweet. Looks like shaft offering on the EXS line is the tensei blue and that's it, but if it fits you take a peak!

I’ve tried everyone out there (as I’m sure most have).

The one used the last 2-3 years has been the Apex...it’s small and a rocket and feels great!

BUT, somehow I tried a cobra F7 (yes older model)), and my god it’s been the greatest purchase in a while. I venture the F8 and F9 are as good if not better?, but for some reason, I always thought the Cobra Rails were gimmick, but NO! Wow this things is hot, feels better then the apex, and can be used literally on any type of surface perfectly. Not sure why I was anti cobra and thinking they were just for “fan boys”, but these are the best hybrids I’ve ever had or tried

Easier to hit then anything on the market, and look as good too

I had a 909H so can understand why you're still playing one. The heads sounded good and spun more than a lot of today's hybrids. I'd look at the G400 or G410, Mizuno JPX-900, Epic, Cobra F7 or F8 as being similar, but with modern upgrades like rails and adjustability. I settled on the G400 for 2018 for the all-around performance. I demoed the TM and Titleist but found them leaving me wanting.

What shaft do you have in the g410 hybrid?

You want to take a look at the Tour Edge CBX hybrids. Come in lofts 16-20* and 22*. Clubs are billed as being left-proof. Excellent Project X and Koro Kage stock shafts also:

LL, I don't generate the clubhead speed to play these magic wands. But I suspect you do.
