Coyote Ridge is being sold and it looks like it will be going private (Troon Prive) so go get your rounds in before they shut it down to the public. Greens were punched a month ago and are rolling nicely.

Is this what you are talking about?

I couldn’t possibly imagine wanting to join that place as a private club.

Troon took over management, there's little chance Coyote Ridge could go private, it is a weird golf course layout.

It’s been a long time since I played it and only 3x at that, a few good holes with some really awful holes is my memory.

It’s truly a dreadful track. So many confusing green complexes built in a very tight area

My impression was the put 18 holes in where had room for about 15.

I'll never forget, playing with my son, who loved hard golf courses (he was about 9 at the time), loved playing Grapevine, Waterchase, Tierra Verde, so we went to Coyote Ridge....before even got to the contrived back 9, he said, "Dad, I don't like this course.  Let's not come here again".

The few more recent times I played there (usually a charity event) at least greens were hard and fast, only play there if forced to anymore.

Played Buffalo Creek yesterday, not a bad course. As mentioned here, greens definitely in good shape, and bunkers a mess because they are overfilled with too soft of sand. Its not in my top 5 in DFW area public courses, but its not a bad option if you can't find anything else. According to the board, it seems that new mgmt took over? Its certainly trending in the right direction. All employees were friendly.

Hello fellow WXR's. I'll be flying in friday the 27th and looking to golf the 28th in the Ft Worth area perforably in the AM. Any recommendations on where to play or does anyone need a 4th. I'm around a 12 handicap.

Thanks.

Rigo

As a single you may have to find a hot deal on GolfNow, or just show up and get paired with first available. Rockwood is the best city course and it’s just north of downtown. Hawks Creek is a good public course west of downtown. It’s right by Lockheed Martin so you may see some fighter jets.

If you are willing to drive a bit, then look into Waterchase, Southern Oaks, Texas Star, or Texas Rangers GC ($$$).

I’d join but have agreed to put up Christmas decorations.

Titleist 915 D3 - Fujikura Pro 73 Tour Spec X

I visited Bridges golf course in Gunter a couple of days ago. Cart died at the second hole. I called for the service and the cart they brought had no power. The third cart was ok but the pace was super slow because "members" were busy socializing than playing golf. They were chatting at the tee box and took all the time they want. I gave up at 13th and on the way back, the cart died. I will not visit that course again.

Funny, I played on the 23rd, almost the same day? A person in my group's cart died as well. Pace was slow but we managed to get ahead of the slow group at the turn and the back 9 went quick. Funky course, I like the layout but some of the greens are nearly unplayable.

Bridlewood today and course was good.  Greens rolled smooth and fast.

I've only played Bridlewood one time a couple of years but I really like it. Good shape and greens were exactly like you described them. Seems like I remember reading that they changed owners but not exactly sure if that was before I played it or after.

Is this certain? I cant see that course going private. The range and clubhouse wouldn't really live up to the other options in the area. Troon has the money to do something, and I think after getting out of Champion's Circle they were probably looking for something in this area.

For those that mentioned Bridlewood, fyi, they are finally redoing their fairway bunkers. This place has evolved like crazy! They did a heck of a job and the new fairway bunkers will be the icing on the cake. Might move into one of the best in DFW.

Bridlewood is a really, really good course.
