If I’m playing sports, I wear Nike clothing and shoes exclusively. I wear Nike golf shoes (Nike Air Zoom 90 IT). But why is their golf clothing, especially what their touring pros wear, so god-awful ugly?

I doubt it. If he marked the provisional differently he would have known known he was playing the wrong ball.

You should... because if you do find both balls with the same marks and you can't tell which you hit first. You "lose" one of them and taking the s&d penalty

He hit two provisionals off of 7, and thought he was playing the 3rd, but was actually playing the 2nd. You have got to mark your 3rd provisional. This course is giving a few golfers an old fashioned curb stomping.
